PROJECT SUMMARY UPDATE 6/22/05: Lead-Safe Neighborhood Sweep is a neighborhood lead awareness and education campaign. Four neighborhoods with high numbers of children with elevated lead levels and a high percentage of homes with potential lead hazards will be identified for a door-to-door campaign. The streets selected will be in the Mt. Pleasant/Kinsman, Detroit Shoreway, St. Clair Superior and Glenville neighborhoods and the northeast portion of East Cleveland.
Lead Week Activity Schedule
The Information Center/staging area, where HealthMobile, will be located in the parking lot at Zelma George Recreation Center, 3165 Martin Luther King Blvd. Door-to-Door Canvassing will take place on streets to be determined.
Information Center/Staging Area: Michael Zone Recreation Center & Park, 6301 Lorain Ave. Door-to-Door Canvassing will take place on streets to be determined.
Information Center/Staging Area: St. Phillips Neri Catholic Church 799 E. 82nd St.
Door-to-Door Canvassing will take place on the following streets:
- Educators/Outreach Participants: pass out literature, hand out free cleaning kits, talk to residents and identify children who may be exposed to lead.
- Registered sanitarians and licensed risk assessors: conduct visual risk assessments on the exterior of homes and write up recommendation for correcting lead hazards
- Phlebotomists/Nurses: conduct blood draw for lead test.
