I was staying with friends when I heard about this tragedy, and I immediately got a splitting migrane.
I couldn't imagine the intensity of grief the parents and family were enduring.
At at time like this you would want to crawl into a hole and drown in your depression...
So the Jewish culture over centuries has developed an antidote - about as good as it can be - sitting Shiva. [1]
The mourners are visted by their friends and neighbors - hundreds and hundreds of them. Visitors don't need to knock...you just walk right in. Bring a plate of food to share. Talk about the living and talk about the dying, recollect your memories.
Difficult to do - take GRIEF head on and overwhelm it!
