Louie (on the left) is lugging one of the 75 pound precast concrete waffle blocks. Each block covers about 1.5 square feet. At $12.00 each, or $8.00 per square foot, this is a little more expensive than having a concrete driveway installed.
However, these blocks are porous, allowing rain to percolate down into the stone dust and gravel base below the blocks. Because of the reduction in run-off into the street and into the storm water infrastructure, this installation should be provided a tax rebate by the local storm water authority.
But that hasn’t been legislated yet here in backward NorthEastOhio.
This job is on Larchmere on the Shaker/Cleveland line. Gogol Construction is the contractor and can be reached at 216 322 1835.
