Titled "Arachne Weaves Her Web", this imaginative low tech installation by Debbie Apple-Presser is testing viewers.
Spun between two old oak trees in a little park which sits in the middle of the Horseshoe Lake in Shaker Heights, the web is exposed to everyone. What will it catch? Fragile, sparkling - will someone be enticed to sweep the cobweb away?
The vulnerability of the installation puts the manners of visitors on show.
Will some juvenile “moth” ride through it on a bike at dusk tonight?
Webs are said to be stronger than steel – can the civic space resist testing its brute strength?
