Help Change History: Breuer Closure and Hough Bakeries Open HouseSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 06/05/2007 - 21:56.
06/08/2007 - 13:00 06/08/2007 - 19:00 Etc/GMT-4 The most important thing civic-minded, planning oriented, culturally-concerned citizens may do June 8th is attend the Cleveland City Planning Commission meeting regarding Cuyahoga County seeking permission to demolish the Breuer - see posting on this here. After fighting the good fight there (to save the Breuer, or argue otherwise), while you are in a feisty planning state of mind, stop by the Hough Bakeries, in East Cleveland, for some open social hacking on what went down that morning and what we can do to make sure this region is planned better in the future, including with what we are working on in East Cleveland. If you haven't yet seen the old Hough Bakeries complex, there will be tours. If you've been there already, there will be progress reports. We are still brainstorming through uses for parts of the complex and the more good eyes and minds we can introduce to the facilities and our plans the better - you never know who will have a great idea we can make happen together here. Also, note, the Williams will soon be selling off lots of excess restaurant, store, catering and kitchen fixtures and furnishings stored throughout the property, so consider this a first preview to see if there is anything that strikes your fancy.... need a semi? Because we do not want to conflict with the Breuer meeting, and everyone I know and I plan to attend that, we will not offer lunch at this Inner Circle open house. But, we will have coffee and the bar will be open for service - we'll see what other treats we can find up in the Hot Sauce Williams kitchen... perhaps some sweet potato pie. We'll return to a full lunch program next Friday, June 15, featuring a very unique performance and discussion with Cleveland Orchestra violist Eliesha Nelson. Hope to see you this Friday, June 8 - no need to RSVP... just drop in any time between 1 and 7 PM. Location
