The high profile murders of John Jackson and Masumi Hayashi, and now Detective Schroeder, have made me more aware of violent crime in NEO, and in my neighborhood. In reviewing PD coverage of the Jackson/Hayashi kllings, I saw Allen T. Jones was killed a block from my house... from the 08/14/06 PD: "A 23-year-old man was killed Friday on the West Side. Allen T. Jones of Montgomery, Ala., was shot in the abdomen about 3:45 a.m. near the corner of West 48th Street and Detroit Avenue. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:48 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 216-623-5464."

I certainly don't expect Mr. Jones' murder to receive the coverage of Jackaon, Hayashi or Detective Schroeder, but I would like a way to know more about the causes of deaths like this in my community, as we look for ways to make our neighborhoods safer. I can say that, at 3:45 AM on weekend nights, from my home near the corner of West 45th and Detroit (one street from this murder site) I can see obvious prostitution activity, so this is not a place to wonder alone, then. I'm largely posting this to remind myself to learn more about this homocide, as Allen T. Jones of Montgomery, Ala., is surely forgotten here, wherever he may now rest in peace. If anyone knows anything about this loss, please post... I'll update with whatever I learn.
