Bill Mason, Ronn Richard, can't get these upSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 07/25/2011 - 13:36.
This wind turbine blade has a more efficient curved tip section - the latest generation of blade. The base of the blade is just about 8 feet in diameter - keeping it road width legal for ease of transport. The load still required 4 pilot cars because of the over - length - in the range of 150 - 200 feet long. Cuyahoga taxpayers have paid a couple of million dollars to date to "STUDY" wind turbines out on Lake Erie taxpayers sent County Prosecutor William (Bill) Mason to Europe and to Vegas to "study" wind. So far, the County taxpayers have received zip for their money. In Illinois west of Chicago in the corn and soy fields there are hundreds and hundreds of operating turbines. My guess is that this blade - seen at 60mph on the interstate was headed East to that area, perhaps from a shipping offload on the Mississippi. On closer inspection, (see image above of root of blade with bolts) the blade appears to be a LM Glasfiber SD1280. LM has a plant in LIttle Rock, Ark, so maybe the blades are being shipped from that plant.
