Welcome Back! We hope that each of you enjoyed the holiday season.

 

The Social Sciences Department of the Cleveland Public Library will hold their non-fiction book club discussion Thursday, March 10, 2010 at 12:00 PM in the Social Sciences Department (Sports Research Center).  We will discuss the book entitled, "To Kill the Irishman: the War that Crippled the Mafia." (by Rick Porello)

The true story of fearless Irish-American racketeer Danny Green who takes on the mob in the 1970s.  The end result is the fall of several Mafia families and the defection of high-ranking mobsters.  Author Rick Porrello is a veteran cop who wrote about his mob roots in "The Rise and Fall of the Cleveland Mafia." Inspiration for the feature film, The Irishman, starring Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken, and Val Kilmer coming out March 2011.

Copies of the book may be picked up in Social Sciences Department and checked out in the Lending Department. However, due to the popularity of the title, if you would like a copy held for you in our department, please contact us as soon as possible.
