Conservation Organizer
Cleveland Ohio
The Sierra Club, the nation's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, skilled individual for the position of Conservation Organizer in Cleveland, Ohio. Responsibilities include working on Sierra Club’s Political campaign and our Green Energy campaign, participation in development of strategies, representation of Sierra Club in the media and coordination of volunteer outreach and visibility activities. The conservation organizer works on community outreach; works in close cooperation with Sierra Club volunteer leaders, Sierra Club staff and partner organizations; trains activists; coordinates grassroots public education and legislative action; and represents Sierra Club to the public.
Interested candidates should have at least 1-2 years' experience in grassroots organizing, coalition building and media relations in the environmental movement, political campaigns, labor movement or similar organizations. Candidates should have strong demonstrated communications skills, knowledge of energy and environmental issues, demonstrated ability to work effectively with volunteers and to support community activism; and computer proficiency.
