Choreographer/director Dianne McIntyre offers to Cleveland audiences a taste of her tradition of joining dance and live jazz music. A Cleveland native and now again a resident she has collaborated, over the last 3 decades, with noted artists like Max Roach, Lester Bowie, Olu Dara, Cecil Taylor, and Don Pullen.

For "In the Groove and Over the Top" McIntyre has gathered an illustrious team of artists:

  • Michael Medcalf; dance soloist and founder of Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre
  • Drene Ivy, pianist and prolific composer
  • Terence Greene, choreographer and dance director for Cleveland School of the Arts
  • Bill Ransom, versatile percussionist and drummer
  • Desmond Davis, dance artist and cultivator of youth in dance
  • Erin Conway, dancer with Cleveland's Verb Ballets
  • Mariama Whyte, vocalist and formerly a cast member of "The Lion King" and "The Color Purple"
  • Glen Holmes, multi-genre bassist

In New York Dianne McIntyre directed her Sounds in Motion Company of dancers and musicians and creates dance works for theatre, film and university ensembles and dance companies including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. In Cleveland her work has been seen at Karamu, Cleveland Play House, Dancing Wheels, Oberlin and Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre. Numerous awards include the numerous grants and commissions, the Cleveland Arts Prize, 3 Bessies (NY Dance and Performance), 2008 American Dance Festival Distinguish Award for Teaching and 2007 John S.
