This weekend, friends at the Pizza Kitchen had two kids steal their tip jar. Not a large crime, but one that hurts business and is frustrating.. and an argument to the entry level crime the hurts any neighborhood.. We do have to give kudos to Second District... After the call was placed, the police helicopter arrived first and it was followed by squad cars. Everyone calling in complaints told our officers to call off the helicopter (given the nature of the crime) but the crew stood their surveillance. A big thank you re: response. The two kids who stole the tip jar were chased to W. 7th Street to the blue and white house with the Howard Hanna "For Sale" Sign. The kids were two black, young adolescent, males who were identified by their clothing.. which they immediately changed so the officers made no arrests or actions without positive I.D. However, the helicopter and slew of cars seemed to make a point.. The kids haven't been seen for two days and Second District went overboard to do their jobs this time and should be so recognized. Maybe these two kids will be afraid to commit crimes for the rest of the half of summer. Maybe the summer employment effort could help these kids. I heard that Mitch at Shaker Cycle will have applications for the 7,000 new jobs the Mayor is creating. We can steer the kids there to sign up for the program.. This could be a win-win-win!!!

This year you will have the option of leaving donations for charity at the curb to me removed - this effort is being coordinated by Vickie on Starkweather.

Everyone is welcome to post their own yard sale signs - however - they must be removed at the close of the event.
