CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A man who was shot in the back while fleeing a pair of robbers in Tremont early Monday is in fair condition, according to a MetroHealth Medical Center spokeswoman.
The 26-year-old man was walking to his car about 4 a.m. when two males approached him outside The Treehouse. When one of the males pulled out a gun, the man slapped the weapon away and ran, according to a police report.
The gunman opened fire before both males fled in a beige car, the report said.
The man ran less than a quarter mile to his friend's home on Jefferson Avenue. The friend called an ambulance and applied pressure to the wound until paramedics arrived.
The man and his friend -- who both work at The Flying Monkey Pub -- were hanging out at the Jefferson Avenue home before the shooting, the report said.
No arrests have been made and police have not identified suspects.
