I am committed to ensuring the safety and security of the many diverse neighborhoods of the Second District and of the residents and citizens that live-in, work-in and visit our community daily. We proactively address criminal activity by looking for trends and similarities in crime reports and then crafting a plan of action to combat it. Amongst the strategies employed recently and still in place are increased, high visibility patrols and undercover robbery decoy operations in Tremont; saturation patrols, door to door canvases and increased traffic enforcement around Detroit-Shoreway; plainclothes patrols, night curfew details and prostitution sweeps in Ohio City and Clark-Fulton; Driver License checkpoints and quality of life details in Old Brooklyn and foot patrols across the entire District.

Assisted frequently by personnel from the Division’s Bureau of Traffic, Gang Impact and K-9 units, the more than two-hundred dedicated men and women assigned as patrol officers, detectives and supervisors in our Second Police District work hard to address criminal activity and quality of life issues across the District. Whether communicated to me through messages sent to the Mayor’s Action Center, your Ward councilman or delivered directly to my office, your complaint or concern will be addressed. Remember, however, that this is a partnership and we need your help.

Get involved in your neighborhood by joining your local block club or starting one if there isn’t one currently. Stay active in your neighborhood and be aware of what is happening on your street and in your block. Residents, more than the police, know when something is out of place or “just isn’t right.” We will continue to work hard for you so that you can continue to enjoy all that the Second District has to offer.
