Contemporary Israeli playwright Motti Lerner visits to “set the stage” for the Cleveland premiere of his play Pangs of the Messiah, presented by The Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland June 17 to July 1, 2009, at the Brooks Theatre, Cleveland Play House.
Lerner frequently lectures on the Israeli theater and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and will present “The Politics of Jewish Theater” at the City Club of Cleveland on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 12:00pm.
Lerner will share provocative insights about the responsibilities of Jewish artists to confront the dilemmas of Jewish existence and will reflect on the multi-layered relations between the state of Israel and Jewish communities around the world and Judaism in a time of globalization.
Tickets, which include lunch, are $25 for the general public and $15 for City Club and Mandel JCC Members.
