Rhythm Culture Shakes Up Fair Trade at the World Fair
Trade Day Festival on Saturday, May 12, 11am-3pm, at
Tri-C Metro (Campus Center).  Move to the music of
multicultural performers.  Learn how fair trade is a
just, viable alternative to corporate globalization.
Kids can participate in a collective art project, test
their geography skills and win prizes.  Phoenix Coffee
will serve up gourmet fair trade coffee while Two Peas
in a Pod slices up fair trade chocolate desserts.
Local fair trade vendors INTO, R evive, Fair Trade
Connection and others will sell clothing, jewelry, and
hand-crafted gift items made by family businesses and
small cooperatives throughout the  Global South.
Later, local high school kids model fair trade
fashions from 4 to 8pm on a runway they’ve set up at
the Independence Civic Center , 6363 Selig Dr .  See
more at www.irtfcleveland.org or call 216.961.0003.

The festival will provide family-friendly activities
    throughout the day.

    ·        Learn about the on-going need for fair trade
    practices.
    ·        Participate in a global awareness art
    project.
    ·        Move to the music of multicultural
    performers.
    ·        Buy fairly traded products.
    ·        Sample fair trade coffee and chocolate.

Fair trade is an alternative to corporate-led
    globalization and free-trade agreements.

    Fair trade means
    -safe and healthy working conditions
    -advanced credit,
    -long-term partnerships
    -sustainable development
    -living wages.

    Kids Need Fair Trade!!

Children in poor countries are required to work
because the wages earned by their parents do not
support the entire family.   Fair trade businesses
offer family wages for parents, which afford children
more education, better health care and nutrition.
