Paul Dacey is very cool
I met Paul Dacey in 2004 and we have gotten to know each other and I really love his work. Unfortunately, he's a big bucks international artist so I can't afford his work, and even though he went to the CIA I don't think he has any work installed here in Cleveland - hopefully that will change... I feel strongly that we make certain all the artists that come out of Cleveland are pursued for collections in Cleveland... but I like Paul's work whether he is NEO or not... and the image above is a detial... you need to see an entire installation to get the picture: From a work in the collection of the Toledo Museum of Art...

back in the day
I am so happy to see Paul's work here. I knew him back in the day, when he was still in Cleveland. He worked at Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art on Bellflower (now MOCA on Carnegie) during a major collaboration the Center did with Dancecleveland called New Dance New Vision. It was 1984. He must have been in school or just out of school then. I remember when he left for New York. What a nice reminder, and how wonderful to see his work and know what he is up to these days.
New Gallery to China - call for submissions
That's awesome. Send Paul an email at pauldacey at earthlink dot net - he'd love to hear from you. Let him know he is the art of the day at REALNEO and to send a hello
BTW: here's the latest news from Paul, with a call for submissions... why don't we send him some content for this project...
As you might know, I am involved in creating a mural at the BEIJING NEWART PROJECTS in Beijing this September.
Conceptually, the mural, (approximately 8' x 36'), seeks to contrast
digital images of WESTERN visual perceptions of CHINA, with CHINESE
artists' digital images of THEMSELVES. In order to have ample material
to sift through I am inviting you to be a part of the process, and/or
to forward this email to anyone who might be interested in submitting
an image or images, (up to 30).
Have a great summer,
Paul
