Mother and baby dies after EMTs refuse to help while on coffee break

Submitted by Eternity on Mon, 12/21/2009 - 16:54.

The Associated Press - Mayor Michael Bloomberg has criticized two New York City emergency medical technicians accused of ignoring a pregnant woman who had collapsed in the coffee shop where they were taking a break. The woman and her baby later died.

Bloomberg said Monday that refusing to help goes against human decency.

The Fire Department is investigating the Dec. 9 death of 25-year-old Eutisha Revee Rennix. The EMTs are accused of telling employees at the eatery in Brooklyn to call 911 and then leaving when employees asked them to help.

It seems that no matter where we are in NEO, there is no way to get away from the FAMILY...not even that long walk in the park.

How does Larkin know all of this inside information?...And how is it that Developer Fred Rzepka is never questioned for his life-time board position and opportunity to award contracts?

In the wake of last night's little squabble here on realneo, a friend emailed me with a link to the origin of the phrase "beyond the pale". S/he said that though it was the phrase that came to mind while reading through, she had never looked up the origin. I had looked this up, "beyond the pale", because I was a tireless researcher, learner when I was an artistic director, and one of the works we did - a duet, used this text.
