Roof collapse from snow load - political and engineering forensics

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 03/06/2015 - 17:07.

This roof collapse (in first bay at gable end)  took place on a publicly owned/operated skating rink.   At 7:00 AM it was lucky that everyone in the building was, by chance, at the other end.   No one was injured or killed.

Code enforcement? Not so fast. Complicated situation.

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 12/16/2014 - 18:51.

Near Shaker Square - on the City of Cleveland side of Shaker Square (Shaker Square is on the border line between the City of Shaker Heights and City of Cleveland) runs East 130th Street.   On each side of East 130 are  4 story apartment buildings - about 1/2of the buildings are vacant.    No lights on, no trash out on the curb on pick up day. That means the place is empty of tenants.

Our federal legislators have tax payer funded health insurance but oppose the Affordable Care Act.  WTF?

Citizens: we're screwed.

Kid Killing Cleveland Cops - what do tire tracks tell us?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 12/04/2014 - 10:01.

Image Mark Naymik - red lines mashed up showing cop car tire tracks

Can the mind set of the two officers who shot and killed Tamir Rice be determined from the path of their patrol car in their approach to what the police dispatcher described as someone  "pointing a gun at people"?   Note: the gunner was sitting at one of the park benches under the gazebo.

Grade schools need "Active Shooter" detection systems in the USA - progress?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 11/11/2014 - 22:37.

 Progress? or major Sickness?

While the NRA and gun folks suck up to their profit and paranoia, the rest of us taxpayers fund the cost of total insane craziness...shooter detection systems in grade schools.

We are cooked....

Government out of control? Privacy and press freedoms under attack...

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 11/03/2014 - 15:05.

It turns out that the police used the Ferguson unreast over the Michael Brown killing to get the FAA to issue a no fly zone - as it turns out specifically to preclude news helicopters.   Read more here at KMBC.com

Humans R crazy - WWI we trenched - What R we doin' crazy today? We'll look back and know in 90 years!

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 11/01/2014 - 19:17.

The image above depicts the Allie's trenches (red) and the German trenches (blue) at the end of World War I in France. The trenches were aerially photographed during the war and recently each of hundreds of photographs were given GIS points and collated into a map which combined over 300 individual maps.  (Exhibit at Harvard's Pusey Library through Nov. 11).

Governor of Maine pls sue to confine Kaci Hickox et al as potential ebola incubators

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 10/30/2014 - 17:06.

This is an important opportunity to establish the states' right to confine potential disease vectors.

Does the state  have the right, and under what guidelines?

I hope Ms. Hickox does not carry ebola, but we need to know that someone like her - cocky, self assured, media motivated and just back from treating victims in a  hot zone of infection - can be restrained by the state for potentially being a disease vector.

Cleveland.com removes Kasich Fitzgerald video and goes after Plunderbund for copyright violation

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 10/29/2014 - 19:43.

Here is a link to the report on Talking Points Memo.    Click on the last link to see the re-posted video.

Unfortunately, both these men are lousy.

Kasich is ignorant, can't sit up straight, and rude and Republican (coal man who paused Ohio's utilities green energy push).

Fitz is ignorant, lousy manager (didn't vet his first Lieutentant Gov), womanizer (parking in a warehouse lot at 4 am) , and un-professional.

Challenge your self to something further....136,000 feet above the earth's surface

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 10/24/2014 - 19:01.

This is my kinda stuff.

Totally not required by anything - ie work, the family, the government.

Just required because it is a challenge.  A challenge which gets into your gut and overtakes everything.   The best part of being alive!

You can see the image is at a low altitude (take off) because the balloon is not expanded.

Take a look at the Board of Directors.  Thomas Mulready would turn over involuntarilly in California.

Fukushima nukes over topped by a sunami, Toledo over topped by algea, Atlanta by a 1/2inch of snow, polar bears smothered by me burning gas in my stupid Detroit car, and now Africa with ebola.

The older I get the clearer my understanding is: humanity is stupid, aggressive, hatefull, and corporations love it. Down the tubes we go.

Ebola on an air plane.

When we had the black plague...was there any intercontinental travel?

We are total ignoramisus.

FRIDAY IS PAYDAY IN CLEVELAND SCRAP TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMY

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 07/03/2014 - 10:29.

Wake up America - we have folks who are willing to work hard - scrap collecting in a shopping cart is hard - but our system fails to allow them to be legitimately engaged.

In Cleveland, Ohio (image above) and across the nation scrap metal yards are often busiest on Friday afternoons as the weeks' collection of metal is brought in for beer money.
