New style of Laban dance notation?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 04/04/2009 - 21:00.
Susan Miller brought this dance notation to my attention. Here is a link to Synchronous Objects - at Ohio State University - the source of the colorful dance movement notation. Very cool as graphics alone! Here is a link to Labanotation - developed by Rudolp Laban http://realneo.us/system/files/Laban-notation-- ( categories: )
GREAT LAKES BREWERY TOURSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 04/04/2009 - 19:11.
The Great Lakes Brewery conducts a brewery tour which attracts visitors to Ohio City, Cleveland, Ohio. This is a real economic driver for the economy of the West Side Market and environs. This group of Brewery visitors was listening to their guide (back to the tree in the center of the photo) as she gave them the history of the buildings - including the GLB tasting restaurant in the background.

Starting a virtual garden tour!Submitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 04/02/2009 - 15:11.
I was thrilled to see all sorts of green sprouts and now colors appearing in our yard this week - and the header of the day features some of the first daffodils on Daffidil Hill, in Lakeview Cemetery - a few blocks from my house in East Cleveland. I'll let you know when and where are the best flowers in my part of town - you let us know what's popping up around you - let's have a REALNEO virtual garden tour!

Store Closing - Sears at Randall Park Mall - Cleveland Plus vacant storesSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 03/24/2009 - 21:35.
The Randall Mall is a massive almost totally vacant disaster. The acres of parking lot are pot holed and empty. The wind blows though - could be a great location for turbines. I'm serious.

Citizen Dashboard Killer Ap Proposal: Reinvent Journalism in Real NEOSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Sun, 03/22/2009 - 16:55.
I was surprised to see a letter to the editor printed and on-line in the Sunday, March 22, 2009, Cleveland Plain Dealer - "A flag of peace is found out of order at the St. Patrick's Day parade", by Lou Pumphrey. It starts: "Being half-Irish (on me mudder's side), off work on St. Patrick's Day and knowing the day would be sunny and warm, I vaguely considered donning my 41-year-old U.S. Army dress uniform and joining the St. Paddy's Day parade downtown, carrying my flag." But there was no accompanying picture of Lou or the Flag of Peace. In the print edition, there was a file photo of a parade, but it was hardly relevant.

STANDING AGAINST THE SWINGING PENDULUM IN CLEVELAND, OHIOSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 03/10/2009 - 16:18.
This a political cartoon - inspired by the current discussion on Realneo concerning the re-districting of ward boundaries in the City of Cleveland, Ohio. Councilor Brian Cummins has put the gerrymandering in the vary public and open debate. I applaud him for going right at it. I think he will end up standing, and I hope Mr. ( categories: )
Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, Massachusetts glass wall panels in lobby sunlightSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 03/06/2009 - 16:05.
Although the overall exterior of the building is pretty lame, its location on the south side of the Boston Harbor makes for a nice view to the North. Once inside the lobby of the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), these brightly colored wall glass panels are what you see. I also took in the Shepard Fairey exhibit. ( categories: )

SOLAR STEAM GENERATORS PARABOLIC REFLECTOR AND TUBES FOR ELECTRICAL GENERATIONSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 15:15.
This photo is a section of a telephoto shot of an industrial, grid connected solar steam electrical generating station just east of Boron, California. The air temperature was about 40 degrees F. One of the downsides of these generators - more are scheduled for construction - is that they require fresh water for the steam condensation towers - losing the water to evaporation.

Artist for all Time: Clarence E. Van Duzer, Rest In PeaceSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Sat, 01/31/2009 - 01:22.
I was very saddened to learn today we lost a great artist, loved friend and family to many, and inspirational Clevelander with the passing of Clarence E. Van Duzer. I knew Van Duzer as a family friend and always was inspired and energized by talking with him, his work, and his approach to life. At our last meeting, at his Convivium opening, in 2006, he was so strong and clear it seemed he would live on forever.
