This Email is being circulated today to the membership of TWDC regarding tonights election. I would ask the membership to review these unfounded allegations. This is direct attempt by several members of TWDC to disrupt tonights election.

Many of us in Tremont could not understand this behavior until we
read the following Webb blog about one of the mentioned hate mongers....JERLEEN JUSTUS a
resident who lives near w 7th street behind the Tremont Place Lofts.
* We came to realize that her (and the rest of her groups) hate was
because they were hiding something. We feel the neighborhood needs to know
this prior to the Tremont West Annual Meeting which takes place tomorrow evening.*

Several months ago at an Ohio City Public meeting, a person of interest
questioned Jason in relation to his involvement with a pornography site
in the State of Florida . If true, this is not the type of individual we want making
critical decisions at the board level for our neighborhood.
* Guy Templeton Black has demonstrated that he is generally unstable. If you have ever listened to his ranting and raving or seen his postings on the various Webb sites.... Further He carries a gun at all times.
* Guy has also very recently made a severe verbal attack on Tremont's Gay
and Lesbian community. He believes he is allowed to disrupt, rant and rave at will...sorry
That behavior is not acceptable.

As usual, you're taking out of context and twisting...
1) Police Presence: It's not about you; it's about what you and your pack of associates represent. It's about people specifically plotting and scheming to be disruptive and confrontational during an annual gathering, your plans getting out (better look for leaks, Baby) and the neighborhood taking action to ensure civility will reign.
2) Central Tremont Block Club: Hard to run a block club if the bulk of your neighbors in the service area don't attend because you've alienated them with your negative tactics, right? Give it some thought after the February meeting.
3) 'Pack up and scram:' No one suggested you leave. Only that you be called out as the double-talking neighborhood terrorist/instigator to this larger audience that you've chosen to engage. An audience who knows nothing but what you've put in front of them. It's never the 'whole story;' just 'Jurleen's side of the story.'
What else they need to know is that you don't lift a finger or lend a hand in neighborhood activities. That you don't support any of the events. That you skulk quietly in the corner during meetings without saying a peep and then run home to trumpet 'injustice' from the safety of your electronic bully pulpit after the fact. That you've made no effort to be proactive or cooperative in fixing a system that does need improvement.
And they probably also need to know that you and your associates have a history of taking a nice, community-based electronic forum and perverting the content with lies and rhetoric to the point that it's either shut down or one of you is banned from the site.
People are smart. If given all the facts they'll make up their own minds.

I know, I know... the internet - handles "No I don't want anyone to know who I am because I'm more comfortable posting and commenting anonymously." "stopthehate" chose a "screen name" in order to circulate this propaganda. Who is "stopthehate"? Is this email indicative of stopping hate? Not in my humble opinion. This email seems to be fueling the hate.
It goes both ways. "Do you want this group 'helping' our neighborhood?" I would ask, "Do you want an anonymous email campaigner helping your neighborhood?"
Lately a slew of anonymous posters have signed on to post here. I guess leading by example is not working. At realneo, you'll find real people - people with real names. You can meet us at real meetings asking real questions. I do wish members (some of you new members have) would post under real names. Some of you may know each other by your handles, but others can only distinguish you by your commentary.

How did stop-the-hate (misnomer) get a list of members, let alone email addresses to send this thing? According to todays SunNews:

Monitors watch CDC election
After pressure was applied by some people in the community, tonight's election of Tremont West Development Corp. board members will be monitored by two volunteers from Cleveland State University's College of Urban Affairs.
Board president Tom Cook, who is unopposed in his re-election bid, said he sought the election monitors as an overlay to the usual vote counters from other community development corporations.
"We have six independent counters from other CDCs," Cook said. "But there has been a lot of noise around the subject mostly as a result of your (West Side Sun) article. The election needed to both be independent and appear independent."
Tremont West coordinates neighborhood improvement programs, some of which are funded by tax dollars. Cook announced the decision Tuesday in an e-mail to eight declared candidates seeking seven at-large board seats.
"I hope you are all supportive and feel that this recent addition of independent monitors will further address any perception that our elections may not have sufficient oversight," Cook wrote. "I am confident in the TWDC staff, their professionalism and the great care they take to ensure a fair election."
"I'm all for it," said Jerleen Justus, one Tremont West's members who asked for the election monitors. "Fairness for everybody and transparency is what we want. Up to this point everything has been a secret."
"I wish they would go up on a stage and count the ballots in front of everybody," said Roman Dowhaniuk, co-chair of the Lincoln Heights/Scranton-Starkweather Block Club. He was a Tremont West trustee in the 1990s. "Instead they go into a back room, count the ballots, and when they come out -- lo and behold it's who they wanted."
"The folks who criticize are the folks who want to count the ballots," Cook replied. "We do everything we can to ensure we have third parties to do the counts. We're trying to prevent stakeholders from overseeing the counts."
Justus argued that the counters brought in from other CDCs aren't independent.
"They're funded by the same organizations as Tremont West," she said.
Declared board candidates in tonight's election are Christopher Alvarado, Jason Beudert, Guy Templeton Black, Katherine Bulava, Herb Crowther, Deane Malaker, Karen Gabriel Moss and Eric W. Russ.
Other nominations may be made from the floor at tonight's annual meeting once it is determined there is a quorum. Tremont West's bylaws define a quorum as being at least 20 percent of the membership present, or 40 members, whichever is greater.
Tremont West has no paid membership, as no dues are charged. There also is no charge to come to the annual meeting or for the dinner. The dinner starts at 6 p.m. with the annual meeting starting at 7 p.m. It will be at Our Lady of Angels/St. Joseph Center, 2346 W. 14th St.
As people come to the meeting, they are provided an election ballot, Cook said. Dinner is served and board candidates speak with people throughout the room. Attendees cannot turn in a completed ballot before the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Instead, ballot boxes are walked around the room and people deposit their ballots in them, he added.

"Every time they meet for elections they never have a quorum," Dowhaniuk alleged. "If you complain they sic (building) inspectors on you."
"It is simply against the bylaws in the section titled quorum' to conduct any business prior to the meeting being called to order and a quorum is verified to exist," said Henry Senyak, secretary of the Lincoln Heights/Scranton-Starkweather Block Club. He said the membership list cannot be kept secret under Ohio law.
Cook said he was aware one or two Tremont West members planned to show up at the meeting accompanied by their attorneys and possibly challenge the proceedings. Most of those complaining about Tremont West's activities said they wanted lower-income and long-time Tremont West residents to be represented on the board.
"We're trying to represent the broader community," Cook replied, noting that trustee Renee Richardson is from the subsidized housing complex Tremont Pointe.

She has no financial stake in Tremont, nor pays any taxes. But watch tonight how many people are bused in from two CMHA sites. I have clear understanding they have been instructed who to vote for by the CMHA leaders in their groups.
The people that get stuck in the middle are the working poor. It is interesting that the rich people use the CMHA residents to push gentrification motives, they have no idea what they are doing.

Well said Henry. I do believe that anyone who states an opposing position, whether it be you, me or anyone else, will find themselves on the nasty end of this tale.
These so called, made up phoney stop-the-hate individuals, groups, etc., needs to stop the hate themselves before they can go around calling the kettle black. On my worst day, I could never be as ill-willed or mean spirited as the cowards posting under some of thise made up names.
Henry happens to be one of the nicest and caring individuals I've ever met. He is well thought out, well versed in his subjects, knows the neighborhood, keeps a cool head when faced with controversy and is able to maintain his composure when the barbs and slurs start flying.
I haven't known him very long, but I listen when he speaks, and he has the ability to get his point across clearly. He believes is fairness for everyone. I think his community and block club are lucky to have him aboard.
In reply to the non-stakeholder comment, I don't have to pay any taxes - I pay rent, insurance, own a vehicle, pay utilities, have a valid driver's license, shop at the corner store, etc., all in Tremont - that my friend, makes me a member of this community.
Health problems, which includes 5 major surgeries in the last few years sort of make it a bit difficult for me to physically participate in some of the activities you describe, not to mention I'm no spring chicken.
Last night new people were sort of elected to fill the vacant seats on the board at TWDC and in those new faces, we have hope for as we listened to their speeches, they made indications that change was on the horizon and that we would be able to see improvements in the future. What happens to other politicians when they don't fulfill their campaign promises, next year you get new ones.

To attack others in a manner in which they need to be leary of the level of harm inherent in your attack and then complain when they so choose to use an nickname to protect themselves is pretty funny and shallow. You find an issue and distort it and cloak yourself within its struggle. You trump up your tone and pick your victims then spew it out to the point that your victims are more victimized. That's a community nada and it's not what people want anything to do with. Ironically then you and others refuse to acknowedge that you've gone on the attack at all.
You predictably go way over the line and as yer personal flaw it is not fair to push it off on others. Throughout this conflict and in previous incarnations of this struggle you have peppered others with hidden threats, inneundo and tirades that you know are unacceptable ways to treat anyone let alone those who are in your path. Cause those in your path are other members of the community not people deserving to be pushed around as you see fit.

I will continue to attend the meetings, learn all I can and do my best to help bring about the change that will assist those under the burden of being preyed up by the profit making developers that have moved into this community hoping to snatch up the homes and properties at a cheap price and run the poor people out by applying pressure by such actions as stepped up housing code enforcement, search warrants, condemnation and demolitions.

AN EVENING WITH NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY
The TWDC annual meeting is now over. But I want to say and let everybody know what a really good time I had. I enjoyed meeting so many new people as well as conversing with those I already knew.
The handshakes, the hugs, the words of encouragement and support were far beyond what I expected. So many nice people not only visited but sat at our table.
The end result may not have gone exactly as we would have liked, but it was all in all a very good meeting. The police officers were nice, courteous and polite. (not to mention handsome)
Tonight, I felt so blessed and honored. Thanks to all of you. You will always be remembered.
I look forward to seeing you all again, but I'll think of a way so it isn't a whole year.
