The Mackinac Bridge (wikipedia link) presents visually very well - this view is from the north west shore park at night.   Big Mac was engineered about a decade after the Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse in 1940.    Compare  the deep box truss below the Mac's road deck to the much thinner deck profile of the Tacoma Narrows bridge viewable at the Wikipedia link.
