National Night Out Against Crime comes to Steelyard commons in tremont -tues. 5-9 p.m. Aug. 2, 2011 - free food & drinks & more

City residents are encouraged to take a stand at the National Night Out Against Crime event, to be held from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 2 tuesday in the parking lot of The Home Depot in Steelyard Commons. Participants can sit inside a police cruiser, fire truck and ambulance, climb a rock wall, and receive your own NNO dog tags, courtesy of the U.S. Army.

National Night Out is designed to:

Heighten crime, drug and violence prevention awareness Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships Send a message to criminals, letting them know that the neighborhoods are organized and ­fighting back

Free food and drinks will be provided, courtesy of Walmart Supercenter, City of Cleveland and Coca-Cola.

Also, participants can dunk their favorite (or least favorite) 2nd District Cleveland Police O­fficer for $1.

Eddie the Eagle, Binky the Clown, face painting, and more than 50 community groups, stores and restaurants will be on-site.

Live music and entertainment will be provided by Julia DeBurgos, Perlas del Caribe, Yes I CAN! Karate, Shao Lin Institute, and the Cleveland Contemporary Chinese Culture Association.

Residents are also encouraged to leave their porch lights on Aug. 2 as a well-lit neighborhood can deter crime and drug activity.

WILL THEY ENLIGHTEN THE PUBLIC TO THEIR CIVIL RIGHTS REGARDING WHITE COLLAR CRIME IN OUR COMMUNITY BY PUBLIC SERVANTS???? WILL THEY TRY TO TEACH THE CITIZENS THEIR RIGHTS ABOUT CORRUPT PRACTICES....????

OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS REAL POLICE WORK DONE TO ERADICATE THE ABUSIVE PRACTICES OF PUBLIC SERVANTS AND NOT FOR PROFIT ENTITIES THAT THRIVE OFF OF PUBLIC FUNDING....
