sierra-bland.JPGThough service dogs have been allowed to escort blind patients through the hospital, this is the first time the staff has seen such a dog in the hospital help a child who has anxiety and behavioral problems. It has made treating Sierra a lot easier.

Sierra Bland had everything she needed to recuperate after doctors at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital removed most of her nonfunctional colon: an IV drip, respirator and Ferris, her service dog.

Eleven-year-old Sierra was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder at age 4. The yellow Labrador retriever has been with her since mid-June and has proven invaluable in helping her feel secure, maintain her calm and boost her confidence.

 

"Her total demeanor has changed," says Bill Bland, Sierra's father.

(yogi yoga bear, my great service k-9, and best friend wants to hog the whole bed and won't let me in the bed if yogi gets in first - its takes a lot of pleading - i got the bed for yogi and he knows it his - its a couch open to bed - but now  i sleep in it - yogis bed   - other than that - yogis the best service k-9)

PD gonna sue you! - Stealing their content again... even their pictures... you'd better watch out... and you aren't supposed to do that here (Lily, you are supposed to be working on this...).

I posted the whole Funk article about MCCO with my interpretation of that, making my part original - I included Funk's article because it is a public health matter - an exception - and if they complain we'll need to take it down... but for now we need to make sure all citizens of the region are informed about that...

We can't do that with every dog story in town (I got 11 dogs writing storied here right now...).

Guy, I see that you found this story that I told you about, which is a touching story. 

You should edit this story to include your own personal experience with Yogi, like how you never go anywhere without Yogi, how Yogi makes you feel ( security, anxiety reducer, friend, etc.,) , how Yogi protects and warns you, and that Yogi is all that you have.  Make it personal to yourself.  Include a picture of Yogi, etc.  Tell us about Yogi and how he helps you daily.

This will make it legal and your OWN story, not someone else's.  You have the ability to do this, so do it!!!

Homework deadline 6:00 p.m. today. 

When I get home from work, it would be nice to see your homework done, or else you will get Catianad- by ME.
