There are only more-or-less solved problems." During the dialog about health care in the U.S., certain highly relevant facts are never discussed. For example, it's ludicrous for right-wingers to fear that a government-run health system would freshly infect our capitalist system with the stain of socialism. The truth is, America has long had the biggest socialist enterprise in the world: its sprawling military establishment, which is completely paid for by taxpayer dollars and run by the government! Another unacknowledged fact in the dialog about health care is this: The single smartest strategy for financing a new health care system (as well as dramatically improving the economy as a whole) would be to reduce military expenditures. Americans don't seem to realize that their monstrously huge military empire is a case of supreme overkill: It girdles the globe in ways that are unprecedented in the history of civilization. We have 761 military sites in over 100 countries! I bring this to your attention, to illustrate the way that a seemingly serious discussion can be thrown off course and rendered unproductive when it ignores critical information. http://FreeWillAstrology.com " the slash and burn - take no prisoners - anything goes is so corrosive to our democracy and we've got to fight this because it turns people off politics in general and leaves that space to be occupied by special interests that determine how the goodies are to be passed out...." barack obama, nov. 23, 2004 yogi guy __________________________________________ ANTI-SPECIESISM

Wonderful post Guy
I feel the same way. They are misguided by the polluters.
And they suffer the consequences of being polluted themselves.
Disrupt IT
Guy, while I will agree
Guy, while I will agree with you on the part that most all of the people inside the organization are "nice. hard-working" people, don't forget Eve was a nice person but she still use her wiles to entice Adam to take a bite of the apple.
These by-laws are not in your favor. If I recall, you stood for at least half an hour at the last annual meeting with your hand in the air, trying to get a "point of order" and I don't think they ever recognized you, did they?
I can't even get an answer to the question about the amendment process afforded by Robert's Rules and am told by Tim Jenkins that he (the Roberts Rules guru) can't answer that. Why not? Perhaps it is because no one wants the membership to know that there is an amendment process and that it should be put on the agenda.
One of my biggest ires with the group that is now running the show and that is that they all have a superiority complex. They all think that they are smarter, better and we are nothing but their minions who can speak only when spoken to. They go around acting like they're holding on to the rules of the kingdom and nobody else is afforded the right to read them.
They love to insult people's intelligence. They act as though we don't have enough smarts to use the dictionary, use search engines, or even comprehend what we find. We're all just supposed to remain idiots and never come out of the dark.
Good example. my sister was out drinking (and they also do a lot of drinking) with some friends and over heard a conversation that the "big plan" was to shut down the new organization because there was no way I could start up a new coalition for this community. Well, I already did and here's the deal, they can try to shut us down, but there are 10 founders and we will not be broken apart - as long as we have the ten of us and two member of this community, we will go forward and conduct bussiness. I don't care if we have to do it out under a tree or in somebody's attic. The OSS is here to stay.
Guy, you were discriminated against at the last election for board members, what do you think is going to happen this time around?
Another point you should
Another point you should think about Guy, the new by-law changes is worded so that 50, yea that right 50 people can vote and make diecision about what is best for us. There's 50 people inside the organization. "......Section 4 - quorum. All meetings of the membership, whether annual or special must have present a minimum of seventy-five (75) members or 20% of the membership; WHICHEVER IS LESS, in order to conduct TWDC business. Once a quorum is established at a meeting, TWDC business may be conducted EVEN IF VOTING MEMBERS LEAVE THE MEETING." 2/3's of 75 is 50. This is for an organization that professes there are 900 plus members.
Actually, they can conduct business with even less - if 75 show up and then want to leave. They could all leave but two people and still vote on major issues that effect this community. This is pure hogwash - and they have a Professor sitting in advising them that this shit is kosher. Now, I can see why Brian Cummings ran her out of his territory.
What do you say Guy that we schedule a meeting to discuss these by-laws and invite all of the investors to attend.
You see Guy, I was not really going to get into the TWDC by-law scene even though Tim Jenkins kept requesting to come to the OSS to present the proposed changes - especially after at a Long Range Planning committee Meeting Sammy made a the clear distinction that we, the OSS was not affiliated with TWDC. I thought that perhaps it would be best to touch on them lightly and advise everyone where they could go to sit in and discuss the drafts, i.e. block clubs, etc., however, Tim Jenkins and Board Boss Tom Cook would not let it rest. Word was going around that they were going to stick ..........take care of the situation - and so they did.
Also at the Central Tremont Block club meeting which I am a member as a resident of this community, I ask some questions, which we were incouraged to do, but when I did, Tim lost his cool and proceeded to walk across the room and yell at me. Perhaps, I ask the wrong (right) question. I was puzzled, Tom Leneghan and jason Beudert were also pounding him with a number of important questions, but......he didn't yell at them. I guess it was a man thing?
