Tuesday@REI: April 12: "The Gehry designed Peter B. Lewis portal to Industrial Innovation in NEO"

The construction of the Peter B. Lewis Building provided a great example of state-of-the-art manufacturing and engineering, particularly by local companies, responding to the challenge of an extremely innovative design. Representatives of companies who were directly involved in the project can speak about how they and their colleagues responded to that challenge. Other speakers will comment on how the project was a positive influence on the progress of manufacturing, in general, in our region. For instance, the project can be said to provide a very useful example of the stretching of the use of construction materials, or of engineering strategies, or of creative workforce collaboration on the construction site itself. Or, in more general terms, awareness of engineering success of this quality and visibility, by other companies in our area, and by a large and general audience, contributes to a positive businessclimate in our region.

Participants will include:

  • John Zaranec, President of Zaranec Surveying Company, Chagrin Falls
  • Wayne Miller, Foreman, Ironworkers Local 17, on the PBL Building construction project
  • Pete Accorti, Co-Chair of NEOCAM (Northeast Ohio Campaign for
    American Manufacturing), and V.P. of Operations for Talan Products,
    Cleveland
  • Arthur Huckelbridge, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Case School of Engineering
  • Deryl Kratzer, President of the Roofing and Building Maintenance Division of Tremco Inc.
  • Anshel Gleyzer, C.E.O. of PhotoPeak Inc., Chagrin Falls;
