MyCom Leadership Academy
This summer the Partnership For A Safer Cleveland will host the MyCom Youth Leadership Academy (YLA).
We are asking community partners to recommend young people that are willing to make a commitment and that are available to attend the YLA.
High school students are preferred, although a mature 8th grader will be considered. Applications can be mailed to the Partnership For A Safer Cleveland (address below), faxed (216.523.1823) or emailed (apetrella [at] safercleveland [dot] org) and are due by Wednesday July7, 2010.
The YLA will provide young people with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the MyCom mission and vision and to prepare young people to be leaders in the MyCom movement. As a result of their participation in the YLA young people will:
· Develop and enhance their leadership skills
· Serve as a MyCom Youth Consultant
· Network with their peers and MyCom partners
Young people that are selected must agree to the following:
· Attend (and be on time) every day of the week-long session
o Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm
· Serve as a MyCom Youth Consultant
o Participate in a minimum of four MyCom events/activities (August 2010 – May 2011)
o Attend MyCom Youth Consultant follow-up sessions (3 sessions throughout school year)
o Allow name to be listed in MyCom Youth Consultant Directory

MyCom Youth Leadership Academy – Information for Youth & Parents – provides details about the Youth Leadership Academy
YLA Forms (that need to be completed by parent & youth and returned to the Partnership):
o Youth Leadership Academy Application
o Medical & Emergency Release Form
o Transportation & Liability Waiver
Up to twenty youth will participate in each week long Youth Leadership Academy session. The sessions will be held on: July 12-16, July 19-23, August 2-6 and August 9 -13. Applications will be accepted until July 16, 2010, although please recommend that it is sent as soon as possible.
