Historic House Workshop Series

This summer Cleveland Restoration Society is teaming up with Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and Progress Through Preservation in Akron to present a series of four Saturday morning workshops for owners of historic homes.  Topics for the workshops include Maintenance and Efficiency, Exterior Painting, Landscaping, and a Contractor Discussion Panel.  The first workshop will be on June 14.  Each class includes a tour of the beautiful Stan Hywet property. WHERE: Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Akron

Just 20 minutes south of the Ohio Turnpike (exit 173/11 or 180/12), Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is accessible by I-77, SR 8, I-71 and I-271. Stan Hywet is 35 minutes south of Cleveland and 25 minutes north of Canton.

As of May 1, 2008 The hill on North Portage Path is currently closed for major repairs; this construction is expected to last through the summer and possibly into the fall. Check back here for any updates.

If you are coming from the north, driving south on Riverview/Merriman Road, here are easy driving directions to get you around the construction.

  • Driving south on Merriman: instead of turning right onto N. Portage Path, continue driving straight on Merriman Road to Memorial Parkway.
  • TURN RIGHT onto Memorial Parkway.
  • TURN RIGHT onto North Portage Path and continue driving to the Front Gate of Stan Hywet at Garman Road and North Portage Path.
