Ensemble Lautenkonzert was formed in 1995 to explore late 17th and early 18th century chamber music. Please join us for this FREE event! The group features: Stephen Toombs, baroque lute, theorbo and director of the ensemble, is the Music Librarian for Case Western Reserve University. Lisa Rainsong, soprano, is a member of the Music Theory faculty of The Cleveland Institute of Music and is active in the Cleveland area as a singer and composer. Tina Spencer Dreisbach, baroque flute, chairs the music department at Hiram College and is active in the Cleveland area as a flutist in both early and Irish music. Janet Winzenburger, viola da gamba, is the Acquisitions Librarian at The Cleveland Institute of Music, directs the Collegium Musicum at Baldwin-Wallace College and is active in the Cleveland area on early strings and winds. ABOUT THE PROGRAM Dresden during the first half of the 18th century experienced a huge influx of resources for the development of the arts. The source for most of this was the Saxon court and the patronage of Friedrich August I of Saxony and his son. Musical resources were developed for the production of operas, all types of sacred music, public court events and private entertainments. This program presents a sample of chamber music by three of the most prominent musicians associated with Dresden. In addition to the voice, this music will be presented on some of the instruments popular at the Dresden court at this time. Event Homepage: http://cpl.org/finearts/?q=node/247Location

Kudos to the Fine Arts Department at Main Library!
I plan on being there and hope that more Cleveland residents take the opportunity to discover and rediscover their fantastic Clevnet library system and the amazing library and institutional talents within our community.
