LEI

Imagine a business making flowers into necklaces -

When you go to Hawaii and you leave the airport in Honolulu, make certain your first stop are the lei stands right next door to the airport (photo) whose location and history is described here.

The stands are set up as a municipal marketplace, with individual stalls rented out to different vendors.  The vendors specialize in different flowers and different style of lei.  They all have individual fragrances, durability, and delicacy.

I was very fortunate to first visit the lei stands with someone who was very respectfull of the Hawaiian culture, and had taken great effort to understand the legacy Hawaiian traditions.

I'll never forget the experience!
