I saw this contest posting that started April 1st and runs for 6 months. I am sure someone in our region will win this!

From the site: "We are looking for everyone to use their skill and ingenuity to design a DIY wind generator for under £100 ($175) You are required to design, but not necessarily build a workable wind generator that produces a good useable amount of electricity. You can use the projects within this site as a basis for new designs. "

OK Jeff and Martha! Let's see you strut your stuff. Can we safely place bets? Or are you working on something else wind related?
We should enter a RealNEO
We should enter a RealNEO wind generator!
Let's win a flashlight to complement the neon
Good idea. This could be a fun group project. We already have some ideas for components that are free. We could meet at Norm's summer office to build our prototype.

The wind was certainly a-blowin
No doubt there was plenty of wind at Whiskey Island yesterday so that is the place - we can design it to withstand the lakefront blows - set it up at the Bourbon Street to plug in visiting laptops and communications devices OFF GRID. All that said, I'm not an engineer so other folks need to come up with the design (I do know someone who owns a tool shop if we need help with machining. So who is the lead on the design???
