Jeff Buster's blogCaulking Jimi - Why Leslieville's livableSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 17:30.
Jimi Hendrix often smashed his guitars onstage. What better icon for a guitar store could there be than Jimi. ( categories: )
Red Tail Hawk wets its feetSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 10/26/2009 - 19:41.
In the past week I have had three interesting observations of red tail hawks. Last week one swooped over a cat - sized up the cat (too big) - and landed back on a low tree limb. Two days ago I watched another hawk swoop across a wetland - and this time it was a duck which was the target. The duck turned upside down in the water and shook its feet in the air to avoid the hawk.

MOW YOUR LEAVESSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 10/26/2009 - 09:03.
Just a friendly reminder not to waste any of your leaves' "solar power" by raking them to the street curb. You can mulch them in place with a mower, or compost them in your back yard. This is the third year for this lawn - didn't have to water all summer because of the organics now built up like a sponge at the base of the grass - never had any burn out either. Forget Scotts.

COAL CHIMNEY - WHAT COMES OUT?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 10/25/2009 - 22:25.
If someone were to suggest that the exhaust from a coal fired facility would, over decades, kill, sterilize, and cause detrimental mutations in the neighboring downwind territory – would you think they were paranoid?
Or could they be prescient?

Color at the Hobo camp under W25thSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 10/23/2009 - 18:54.
Being in this environment must be therapeutic. Cleveland's social serviced should consider aerosol therapy.

Kokosing removes W14 I 90 Eastbound ramp from Innerbelt BridgeSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 10/22/2009 - 14:10.
The W 14th street I 90 ramp had an accelleration lane added on the Innerbelt Bridge after the bridge was built. The accelleration lane added weight and cantilever forces on the trusses which the Bridge was not originally designed to withstand.

Back to Breuer at the Cleveland ClinicSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 10/21/2009 - 15:15.
In the first floor lobby of buildings designed by Marcel Breuer and Mies Van Der Rohe the concierge stations looked much like that at the Cleveland Clinic. Dark granite, sparse, clean, not that chummy….

Fall Color - Parking Structure open houseSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 10/21/2009 - 14:52.
If you were not a structural engineer, but you had a few eyes, what would you notice about this parking structure which is presently under some type of redo at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio?

Nobama Care Picketers at Cleveland ClinicSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 10/19/2009 - 19:05.
I am not clear why the Cleveland Clinic was the chosen spot for these picketers - but America is pretty cool that you can just show up, wave your sign, and be observed. Please read more about this afternoon's event at the Realneo banner link here

White Bike - Sylvia Bingham isn't hereSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 10/17/2009 - 21:51.
The 18 wheeler turning the corner "didn't see her" so Sylvia isn't here. White bikes are the ghosts of the dead cyclists. It's an international movement. Keep your eye out for these stark monuments...

Vince Labbe - more of what Cleveland Really needsSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 10/17/2009 - 18:42.
The fellow holding the board is Vince Labbe. He wears wet suit gloves in the October Lake Erie water but not a hat. He said once he's in the water he doesn't think about it. (probably because of hypothermia!) Anyway, I met him this afternoon at Edgwater Park in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fall Color in Cleveland, OhioSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 10/17/2009 - 11:26.
Ignoring the broken window theory has its advantages. The creeper can grow on a building that has been empty for a decade or more. This 10.14.09 image is on Quincy Ave at Woodhill in Cleveland Ohio.

Port of Toledo director suddenly quitsSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 10/16/2009 - 11:23.
I got an email from a friend with the news that the Toledo Blade was carrying the story that Michael Stolarczyk, the $170,000 dollar head of the Toledo Port Authority suddenly resigned. What does this make you think?

Time Clock in a Pine NeedleSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 10/15/2009 - 13:50.
When leaves begin to get their Fall Color the usual explanation is that the sugars in the leaf tissues have been modified by the reduction in the daily amount of sunlight and the reduction in air temperature as the sun heads to the winter solstice.
This explanation for leafy trees may be supportable, but not with conifers like the white pine ( ( categories: )
RealCoop Post Office Box 20046 - want the Good News or Bad News 1st?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 10/15/2009 - 13:09.
It has been several months since anyone has gone to the RealCoop PO Box. So when I finally got there yesterday I wasn't sure what to expect. Maybe there would be some small donation checks. Maybe there would be some outstanding bills. The Good News is that when I opened the box, there were no summons and only one bill ($22.00 for the next 6 months for the PO box) ( categories: )
Behind Richmond buildingSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 10/12/2009 - 21:49.
I went by the Richmond building to see what was happening after Oengus reported about a potential sale of the building to perhaps the All Crane parties. Behind the Richmond Building is a neighborhood of single family buildings with a few industrials thrown in. There was some good graffiti, and these chimneys, colored by temperature. Just goes to show, it isn't only the flowers who express themselves.

Obama's Healthcare - too late for Ed HauserSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 10/12/2009 - 12:57.
Ed Hauser is a perfect example of why we need to fund public health care in the US. Ed volunteered hours, days and months of his time and energy to promote good public governance in North East Ohio. But with no "employer", Ed had no health care insurance.

Observations from Baltimore - Stoops2- in a seriesSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 10/07/2009 - 20:16.
Cleveland's Forest City Corporation's Science and Technology Group is the developer for the eminent domain demolished area to the north of Johns Hopkins. These children are playing on a stoop of one of the vacant rowhouses on the edge of the Mason Dixon line. Is this important?

Cuyahoga River tenants - St Mary's Cement (USA)Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 09/18/2009 - 22:47.
This image is on its side - the reality is 90 degrees counter clockwise. but that doesn't matter. For a web site, the landscape view is easier to project on a 16x9 screen. The afternoon light across two silos (one riveted, one cast in place concrete) at St Mary's Cement in Cleveland, Ohio put the helical staircase shadow spectacularly on the concrete silo. Every detail goes to the focus of the sun.

All the B&B Wrecking demolition equipment is gone from HoJo's - now B&B is hard at work tearing down the Carnegie Medical Building. The new construction trailer and signage advertizes Lakeview - apartment/condo complex. Evolution-Construction.com appears to be the builder.

Orange Colored Fiesta WareSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 11:55.
Amazing similarity between orange in fiesta ware and orange in zinnia - perfectly the same at the handle. Fresh flowers cut yesterday from Geauga County, Ohio. What is this bouquet (minus vase) worth at market?
