Meyer Pool in Ward 14 adjacent to the Lincoln West High School Complex on Meyer and West 33.  One block from Metro Hospital.  An excellent pool team this summer and excellent maintenance of the pool and pool deck.

City of Cleveland Pools

Contrary to popular belief--the City of Cleveland pools and spray basins are not "free."  Taxpayers support these services.  And, for the small amount of money spent by the administration at these recreational sites, the City of Cleveland gets an outstanding return: happy kids and summer memories to last a life-time.

So, I really hope that at some point our so-called leaders will get with it and make the improvements needed at these parks throughout the City of Cleveland (east and west).  The money can be found as was shown in the investment at the new Collinwood Recreational Center (which serves a heavy influx of free-loaders from Euclid).  The last day for outdoor pools is this Friday, August 11th.

 

POOL Rules

General Pool Rules:

  • The lifeguard say is final; everyone must obey the guard at all times.
  • Running, pushing, horseplay, & climbing on the play structures will not be permitted.
  • Food, gum, beverages, & glass containers are not permitted in the pool area.
  • The lifeguard has the authority to test a person's swimming ability at any time & reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the pool area.
  • Diving & flipping from the side of the pool is not permitted anywhere in the pool area.
  • Children 10 years & younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Swimmers must take thorough shower before entering the water.
  • Do not hang on lap lane dividers or life lines.
  • People with open cuts or wounds will not be allowed in the water.
  • Personal flotation devices are not permitted in the pool area.
  • Anyone receiving an injury must fill out an incident report form with a lifeguard on duty.
  • Balls & other play toys will not be permitted during open swim.
  • Drugs & alcohol are not allowed in the pool area
  • The use of mask, fins, scuba tanks, & snorkels are not permitted.
  • Swimmers must be at least "48 tall to use the slide & parents are NOT allowed to stand at the bottom & catch their children.
  • Non-toilet trained children must wear a swimmers diaper in the pool.
  • Street & tennis shoes are NOT permitted on the pool deck.
  • Only water in a plastic container is permitted in the pool area.
  • Children 5 years of age and younger must be within arms reach of an adult at all times.
  • ONLY Coastguard approved lifejackets are allowed.
  • Any child wearing a lifejacket must be within arms reach of an adult at all times

Slide Rules:

  • Swimmers must be at least "48 tall to use the slide. Parents are not allowed to stand at the bottom & catch a child.
  • Users must ride feet first.
  • One person on slide at a time.
  • Stopping, changing positions, & forming chains are prohibited.
  • Users must exit the landing area of slide immediately.
  • Life Jackets or other flotation devices are prohibited on the slide.

I would add the rule-no street clothes... City of Cleveland used to require a proper suit and towel for pool users and then decided that this rule was too onerous on the "poor" residents of the City of Cleveland...some of the lamer lifeguards also forgo the shower rule...as insulting...gimme a break.
