CLEVELAND - Volunteers are going house to house in this hard-hit city's West Side, getting out the vote for a candidate who they believe will "shake things up" and bring change to a neighborhood pockmarked with abandoned houses and torn up streets.
It is one of the most intriguing of several hot races around the country that will be decided on Tuesday.

The Origins of REALNEO

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 11/02/2009 - 17:40.

October 7, 2009, we began our sixth year of ongoing, expansive, free, open source content management and global knowledge sharing, community building, social networking and collaboration on REALNEO. See posting Number 1, REALNEO Development Plan, from October 7, 2004, here, for links to many source documents from the planning and development of REALNEO, since 2004.

Congratulations to all REALNEO members, from day one to today! We've come a long way, since 2004, and our outcomes run far deeper than is seen on the surface of REALNEO. Six years is an eternity, in the world of social computing - we're about 8 months younger than Facebook, and a paradigm beyond - we are Real Co-op!

What is sustainability for Cleveland? Recently Major Frank Jackson lead an acclaimed three-day “Sustainability Summit,” which brought together 700 excited business people, students and environmental activities in feel good optimism while the Jackson-lead city government slogs along to Cleveland’s oblivion as usual.

Transformative Knowledge

I am very excited that Cleveland Public Library is participating in the National Endowment for the Humanities Picturing America program.  I have always felt more comfortable explaining concepts visually and, lo and behold, today--a wonderful man contacted me today with a visual explanation of Web 3.0.  Enjoy.  Transform.

Rick Nagin: Unity can build strong community

Submitted by talbano on Tue, 07/28/2009 - 17:53.

Dear Friends,

We need to unite the new Ward 14 and build a strong community.

I am proud that we are the most diverse ward in Cleveland and with your help I hope to draw on the strengths and experiences of people from every culture.

We are an overwhelmingly working class community and with the help of our unions I intend to draw on the skills, commitment and solidarity of working people.

Losing Long-time Friends

Rene before "Natasha"

I got a call last weekend that one of my best friends from high school, Rene Apel, died last Saturday in California where she had transplanted herself soon after high school.  I kept in regular touch with Rene, and when in California would visit with her.  She died from complications of breast cancer that she had treated for in 1993.  Her ultimate cause of death was acute leukemia, occurring after years of continuing chemo treatments that neither shrunk the tumors in her upper torso, nor allowed them to grow (probably brought on by aggressive radiation treatments in 1993.)

Welcome to Real NEO; Open Source Capital of the Brightest Greenest State of Earth

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 06/19/2009 - 13:00.

Smartest Greenest Breuer

Over the past 20 years, I've spent most of my "professional" time as an entrepreneur, with world-class expertise conducting multi-dimensional, multi-client relational comparative data and best practice analyses of any aspects of the world's largest and best global enterprises, environments and systems, and developing and consulting on innovations and total quality improvement. This work has generated a wealth of knowledge on large general systems, with a unique expertise in information systems and telecommunications. REALNEO is a product of this highest level expertise, drawn from the best practices of the best organizations on Earth. What REALNEO has developed for Cuyahoga County - what has been generated out of the REALNEO-generated Real Cooperative - takes general systems innovation to a whole new level of making us the brightest greenest place on Earth. So, we really do have a purpose to Cuyahoga County owning the Breuer, and the vision is beautifully expressed in this great rendering above, to be REAL COOP citizen headquarters of the open source capital of this brightest greenest state of Earth.
