unReal NEO Illegal Campaigning Signs Of The Day: Issue 6, in the Heights, and by RTASubmitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 10/30/2009 - 20:06.
Driving from Cleveland up into the eastern Heights, today, I noticed how different the political signs are in the most affluent part of the Cuyahoga County, compared to in my lowly 'hood... and how illegal. While there are quite a few pro-Issue 6 signs on front lawns of fancy houses, in the lofty Heights, where the pro-Issue 6 signs are most prominent is on public property, from Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights east. There are not any pro-Issue-5/anti-issue-6 signs... people of those persuasions are not littering the streets with campaign signs. There are just lots of anti-issue-5/pro-issue-6 signs... with lots that appear illegal. The Green Line Rapid Transit property of the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), in Shaker Heights, looks like a celebration of Issue 6 Day. At just the Warrensville Road stop, pictured above and below, there are dozens of pro-Issue 6 signs, as of today (5 days before the election). Mother of Issue 6, Judy Rawson, was formerly Mayor of Shaker Heights and still resides here, where these and other illegal signs are located. Being one of the most heavily policed locations in America, in a bloated bedroom community, with God-knows how many public employees, it is safe to say dozens of Shaker Heights employees have seen these signs - they have radios and police - they want these signs here. if they wanted these signs gone, they'd be gone. There are so many signs at such prominent locations throughout this and other RTA Green Line Rapid properties as to be clearly intentional, and done with the "don't ask don't tell" if not direct approval or/and authority of the leadership of RTA. Dozens of RTA employees have seen these signs - they have radios and police - they want these signs here. if they wanted these signs gone, they'd be gone. Same goes for signs on public property in Cleveland Heights, like at Coventry and Fairmount... and at North Park... which are awash with illegal pro-Issue 6 campaign signs, in the public roadway medians. Being one of the most heavily policed locations in America, in a bloated bedroom community, with God-knows how many public employees, it is safe to say dozens of Cleveland Heights employees have seen these signs - they have radios and police - they want these signs here. if they wanted these signs gone, they'd be gone. Interesting that the Mayor of Cleveland Heights, Ed Kelley, is also on the Board of RTA. This connection between the illegal presence of 100s of pro-issue-6 signs at RTA locations and on Cleveland Heights public property should be investigated by the County Prosecutor, Bill Mason. Oh, yes, he is the Father of Issue 6, and may be investigated by the FBI... more likely to have posted the illegal pro-Issue-6 signs than to investigate. Seems illegal Issue 6 signs on RTA and Cleveland Heights property must be investigated by the FBI, before this issue may go away.

TV AD I just viewed said
TV AD I just viewed said Issue 6 will bring job growth. How?
It already has created jobs
Jobs for people putting Issue 6 signs up on public property.
Did it say the jobs would be permanent?
I didn't think so.

I voted NO. Sent in my ballot already so it is a done deed. Sometimes I wonder where the people that create the TV plugs get their information. They sure can make something sound beneficial to people. Is this what is known as AI? Look for a crumb of benefit and try to convince the public that this is something that is sorely needed.
Wonder what would happen if
Wonder what would happen if you called and asked that the illegal signs be taken down? Once that happens they should be removed and that may have already occurred? I would bet the person that takes the call at city hall has to ask somebody else if the signs are actually illegal.
They went up on Friday, then that’s the weekend and the “people that know” may not be available until Monday. Would that be due process, they may come down but it will take the normal bureaucratic channels and more than likely why they went up on a Friday.
It is possible that as much as eighty percent or more of the city workers may not even be aware that the signs are illegal, some may even confuse that issue with the historical laws about signs? The city at one time did not allow any yard signs at all.
I would bet that as much as ninety percent or more citizens have no inclination that the signs that are swaying them are illegally posted.
I could get in my truck if I wanted and collect them and then take them to the recycling center on Chagrin and drop them off, I won’t because I could be charged and arrested by the same people that do not know the laws very well!
Don't ask don't tell? Government people know campaign law
I think most government workers are well versed in campaign law... they are all hired, appointed and keep their jobs through politics and work on many campaigns.
The people of RTA certainly know about illegal campaign signs - RTA was targetted or chosen... so were the Heights.... and the sheer number of signs per location, and careful placment, shows this was a campaign.
I know of people who are hired to do illegal things in political campaigns in my part of town... I wonder who hired the people to do the illegal things in the Heights... they keep records of their crimes, like ward maps and addresses where signs have been deployed, like a military exercise... it is how they get paid... just need to find the peoople in charge of Issue 6 campaigning and they know who put all the signs where they go, and should be charged for the illegal campaigning.

I drove by the locations of these signs in Shaker and Cleveland Heights today and all but one of the signs were gone - on election morning - I think they are listening.
There were lots of illegal Issue 6 signs other places, but I think on election day you are allowed to post signs on public property... where are the laws on that anyway?
Who rules election sign law, especially on RTA property?
