BREAKING NEWS!!! WHO NUKED TREMONTER?

WHICH ONE OF THE USUAL SUSPECTS WILL GET THE BLAME?

HENRY, DEBRA, JERLEEN OR DID CAPTAIN CODE ENFORCER PULL ONE LAST PLUG?

BETTER YET, DID ANYBODY GET A GLIMPSE OF SANTA AND THE BAG OF LOOT OR WAS SAMUEL AND HIS JOHN DEERE  LURKING ABOUT?

Folks, the much enjoyed Tremonter closed it's blog site for good this evening.  Some say the truth hurts and others say the truth sets you free.

Either way, I sent a copy of the electric business' news clipping to the Man in Black and he said it was food for thought because $500k was a lot of loot - a lot of loot for no strings attached.

Recently I signed in as a member of Ohio City Yahoo 2 and, man, let me tell you they have some nasty business going on there.  Talking about blowing the cops and trading cookies and such.  Compared to them, Tremonter was a Sunday School Class.

TremontTruths is coming right along and progressing right on schedule.  A website where everyone is welcome to share your ideas and opinions.  The site contains a lot of very interesting forums.

    Adam,
    I first started posting on Tremonter about the time the stepped up housing code enforcement started - and it was in reply to some other post I read on Tremonter - but what I find most interesting is that this community is in need of major leadership changes and whether it is Tremonter, Plain Press, Sun News, REALNEO, Channel 19, Public Broadcasting System, or a Xerox phamplet rubber banded to everybody’s door knob, we are no longer going to sit by and just accept what is dolled out by those that are put in place to be of assistance.

    There is a lot of negativity, because we are dealing with a lot of negativity in the neighborhood right now. A lot of unfair treatment and unequally balanced representation - and, oh yes, I am so sure, that if we only wrote rosy poetry and bragged about the good deeds that the fine do-gooders were doing everybody would be happy and all would be well - but instead, we are exposing the ugliness of what goes on that nobody wants the rest of the world to know about - and by closing Tremonter because we were bringing the nasty truth to light - it is no longer a secret that we have fine people that take away people homes - that there are rich people living in our mist that want the homeless removed from our society - that some of the do-gooders mis-use the system while the poverty level and needy - have a hard time receiving assistance - that the very organization created to look after those less fortunate isn’t even run by it’s own guide lines.

    There are so many that read Tremonter that did not post - I’ve had people ask me how do we find out what’s going on now - we counted on you to fight for us - well - I will continue the fight - the only thing you have done - given us the reason to do our own thing. There is nothing wrong with healthy debate - with different opinions - so we’re creating our own website - and we’re posting on REALNEO.
    We still have the Plain Press - and so we’re still going to speak out.

    Jerleen1  what's the 1/2 $mill  number about/\?  Are you suggesting that the Tremont blog was a "pound the pillow" blog?  where the community could post (and be censored) and thus be exhausted, made ineffectual, and silenced?.

    Well, during the last few month some people were either banned or not allowed to post as a result of dissenting opinions of the beautiful people and most resently with regard to rising concerns in the community and those taking a stand and speaking out for their rights and the rights of others such as Frank Giglio's and believing it is time for change - and there is a select group of individuals that do not want the truth put out for everyone to read - putting pressure on Adam Harvey was one way of shutting down what some people don't want to hear.  Censored - yes.

    The $500k is from a news clipping that I sent to the Near West Neighbors in Action Organization who is also helping us to possible induce an audit for TWDC into federal, HUD and Model Block Funds that are allocated for this area that no one ever seems to see.  The Gentleman who received the $500k loan for his electric business was appointed to the Board of Directors at TWDC.

    1. Jerleen1  the shake flashlight (linear generator) is a viable technology and has lots of room for new uses (wind harmonic generator)  I don't know about the money Mr. Lemieux is hoping to obtain.

      Instead of RIPping Tremonter, I encourage you to take a holiday break, and then reconsider snuffing it in the new year.

      I would also be interested in hearing more about the Cleveland Foundation’s involvement with the establishment of the Tremonter site - specifically, did the CF change their original support for the site in response to opinions on the site? Did you have complete editorial freedom?

      NEO needs as many vocal internet sites as it can generate, so I encourage you to keep the lights on….I respect your efforts.

    Well, I think that new place

    Well, I think that new place on Professor will end up taking care of itself. I had some conversation with people in the media that contacted me regarding Frank Giglio. They pointed out to me that several existing business owners have contacted them regarding the new restaurant since it was so heavily reported in certain papers and media outlets. They were upset that they were being told that it was going to be some sort of retail shop, and it is going to cause some problems with parking based on what was told to them by the landlord. One reporter even asked for my files on past parking variances for the other restaurants and bars in the area because they pointed out that these leases have expired or they are double-dipping on parking spaces with the funeral home.

    Captain Code Enforcer has hung up his cape, and the computer in the bat cave is not connected ever since the City of Cleveland lost their best and qualified inspector based on his quotes of his bosses are not doing their jobs and selectively enforcing who they wanted to target based on political influence. (Similar to the Housing code endorsement in Ward 13)

    My suggestions is that TWDC staff need to express to the ownership at 2247 to apply for a change of use from "The Bank" to a Restaurant". They have different parking requirements. Once this application has been accomplished the City's Building & Housing will determine if its non-conforming and tell them they need a variance for parking or expansion, like whatever they are building in the back without permits.

    According to records posted on the City of Cleveland's On-line permitting web site this has not happened yet. I do not understand how a Storefront loan could have been given without the proper requests or variances in place.

    Unfortunately that is what happened over here by me, the City departments do not communicate. How can the Community Development Department assume the use was already permitted. This is why the City of Cleveland did not want to listen to the neighbors and pressured BOZA to grant variances in the past.

    This sounds like a great operation that is coming in, and I hope they get the right advice to do things properly in the permitting application processes. It is also interesting that businesses may want to start policing themselves for a change, well that is friendly competition for you.

    Sorry I missed you guys last night.  I mis-understood the one posting thinking that meeting at Edison's on some Sunday was a good idea and was thinking that since there was just a meet up that it would be some time in the future.

    But then again, I'm juggling too many balls that are falling anyway and my brain isn't thinking too straight.

    I had gotten behind this weekend preparing some things for my meeting regarding my house today to Beth offered to relieve me of needed to be in two places at once.

    Let's set a specific date.  I have an official stay at this point on my home.  All the cards and letters worked!  So I can focus on some things I've been neglecting and will be at Edison's for the next couple Wednesday/Sunday happy hours.

      When people have questions, the answers and information should not have to be determined after endless calls and literally, the equivalent of residents screaming "HELP" online.  Adam Harvey provided a vital forum for residents to air their concerns.  If residents misperceived information, those in-the-know, could easily have set the record straight online*.  Drupal and open source networking is not a one-way tool, but in Cleveland, the media has become a one-way tool. This is the last gasp of media control in Cleveland.  You can shut down one site, but another will take its place.  It's not worth telling lies in America anymore.

    *In my humble opinion, entrepreneurs like Aaron and Dante are pluses for Tremont, while the negatives (demolitions and selective code enforcement to benefit developers) need to remain the focus.

    I shouldnt post after the Steelers lose, I'm usually a tad short tempered. I perhaps bruised the feelings over there... maybe it had nothing to do with me. I dont know I'm usually rather even mannered.

    I admit my post (now memorialized in time?) was a bit oblique and yes, i did snap Aaron's head off from left field (there's a bit of ugly history there I wont go into - and I want to say right now - give it two years - it'll play itself out and then someone better be buying me a Guinness at edison's ((if its still there))).

    BUT, my point was that he and his family live off of grants, which I guess is ok, but his brother just landed this fat @ssed grant to navigate drunks out of DUIs and then you have Ms. TremontLady bellowing and whining about all these poor people  getting free money so they dont freeze or starve in the middle of winter.

    Its the typical corporate welfare argument. i'm sure you've all heard it. It certainly rings true in Tremont these days. makes me just about loose my sanity. Mea culpa for my bad graces. 

    Maybe its just as well Tremonter got put to bed - babies do have early bedtimes.

    Whispers have it on the

    Whispers have it on the street that Guy Templeton has his entered his name to be placed among those in the election for a seat at the Board of Directors of TWDC - which we all know is so unequally balanced anyway, but as tipsters have leaked it out that Mr. Templeton has submitted his bio which consist of several pages to the nominating committee and is receiving a quite a bit of resistence from those at TWDC in providing his lengthy resume to the membership.   WHAT GIVES?  If he wants to run for the board, he has a right to get his bio out to those that will be doing the pickin' no matter how many pages it consist of. 

    Why would anyone whisper about Guy running for TWDC board?

    Wow, you really haven't been paying any attention to what's been going on in the neighborhood before those people tore up your tree lawn.

    Guy runs for TWDC just about every year, and every year, they send out the bio packet of TWDC candidates to anybody that has their address on the list for TWDC mailings (you have to actually give your address to TWDC so they know you want the mailings.) Everyone else who applies submits a one paragraph bio, except Guy who submits several pages of indecipherable text and a letter from the city. Usually, TWDC prints the whole multi-page "resume." Anyone who's seen it can assure you that it doesn't help Guy all that much and his unsuccessful runs in the past attest to that.

    I agree with you that Frank's house being torn down was wrong and I also agree that "the list" was a very misguided move by the housing committee that goes against everything that I understand Tremont to stand for. But you're constant "conspiracy theory" tone is making your uninformed posts less and less compelling to read. This one takes the cake.

    I think your voice and perspective should be heard, but at this point you are becoming your own worst enemy. You may want to clarify your "whispers" before you post another ridiculous non-controversy.

    Stop the Hate

    I see a new user registered as "stopthehate" and your posting has the same theme, which others have said about how these explorations, and investigations, and rants and sufferings have gone, which contains lots of hate. And that is true... these words reflect real human fear, and suffering, and weakness, and pain, and hope, and dreams, and real NEO.

    I'd say "tone it down, Jerleen", because it is possible to get out of character on-line, and in life, except how do you shout louder than a bulldozer demolishing a man's home, and making him homeless, at the "Gateway to Tremont", in such an in-your-face and in so many ways seemingly unlawful and inhuman way... even to me, it feels like my "community" has benn violently raped, and I'm not used to being so violated and do not accept that... all the way from East Cleveland. Tremont, you are an embarassment to the EC .

    It seems the people who did that have been their worst enemies, and are just getting caught-up in their seemingly unsophisticated and highly transparent acts. It is happening all over town - corruption being exposed - bringing to justice people who really never thought Cleveland would change, and the world would change, and who thought that they could corrupt anyone or shut them up with such severe tactics as demolishing their home and throwing them in jail. That worked in the old economy, analog news days... long gone!

    Well, change has come, and more is coming, and I'm hopeful in changed times people will hear the shouts of people like Frank and Jerleen and Guy as more than "conspiracy theory" , and the people shouting as real humans. If people listen and deal with problems when they first arise, then the problems don't escalate and people don't need to get all pissed off, and homeless.

    When you envision our Tremont of 10 years from now, after two Obama administrations, who do you think will be the leaders of the community, and who do you think will be homeless? I'd place your bets carefully.

    Well, Tim, When they tore up the tree lawn, it wasn't mine, thank you very much.  It was my neighbors.  And, no they didn't have my address, for the very reason that I DID NOT and DO NOT believe that it is required that anyone must be a member of any of these organizations to exercise their rights as citizens in the community and none of these organizations, i.e., block clubs, non-profit organizations, etc., have any statutory powers what so ever.  That being said, it was during the time of the lawn issues and others that I discovered what a lot of people was going through as a result of these organizations trying to take control and change things whether people liked it or not - People have rights - Guy Templeton has rights - whether it be to run for the board or to stand on a street corner and wave his flag.  He has the right to do so.  It's not about the one page or the six pages.  It's about his right to do so - and it's not up to somebody at TWDC to make the decision as to what to put out there.  How do you think some of our presidents would ever make it if we censored their resumes?  Maybe we have new people in the neighborhood who have never read his material - I haven't and maybe I would like to - since I'm a member of TWDC now - that's my right. 

    And as far as conspiracy, man,  there is conspiracy going on around here. If you are willing and want to take the time, I can lead you right through some of it and point it out with proof to back it up.

    Tremont Economic Development

    Just wanted to take a minute for clarification. It is hard to understand the last post I put on Tremonter without reading the Thread it was taken from. I wanted to make it clear I have no intention of any type of code enforcement with this place on Professor. But I know several calls of inquiry have been made and in the best interest of having people play on a fair and equal basis is the reason I responded. But what is also unfair is the individuals involved with this selective enforcement only are targeting residents on their master lists. This I do have a problem with. Now, in today's climate at BOZA I can tell you the members of this board want community input from the CDC and the local block clubs. So people do have a say in these matters, and BOZA I know is looking for common ground to make both parties happy, this is usually some terms or conditions of operation on the business that the local can get behind. I am going to post the document that I worked up and was approved for use at the last TWDC Economic Development Committee meeting. Just to further add, I did not make any comments regarding Aaron and Tremont Electric, but I think others were just pointing out connections to his involvement with being on the Board of TWDC, but I think any grant he may have received was before being appointed to the TWDC Board.

    Tremont Economic Development

    A quick and easy guide to opening or purchasing a business in Tremont

    If you are planning to open a new business or purchase an existing business it is in your best interest to do a small bit of homework. Most commercial operations within the Tremont community are presently non-conforming uses.

    Please ask the owner of the property and/or the real estate agent to provide you with a copy of the present Certificate of Occupancy for the turnkey business or commercial property you intend to purchase or lease.

    A Certificate of Occupancy, will state the current legal use, the maximum occupant load, and any restrictions that may have been placed on the specific location by the Board of Zoning Appeals, or Building Board of Standards.

    If you were told the present business does not have a Certificate of Occupancy, it would be recommended that you request the owner, current business operator, or lessee to attain this to make for an easier transition in acquiring the business location.

    Any building owner or proprietor may make a written application with the City of Cleveland Building and Housing Department for an “Existing Use” Certificate of Occupancy. You must provide proof of the use i.e.; old building permit, plans, prints, violation notices, operational licenses, etc.

    If a building owner, proprietor, or potential new operator cannot provide any previous documentation proving a existing use your application would more than likely be reviewed by Building and Housing officials. If you receive a letter of non-conformance from the City of Cleveland, your business will have to make application to the Board of Zoning Appeals for a variance to the existing zoning regulations.

    It is the goal of TWDC, in its mission statement to support all existing or potential new legal conforming / legal non-conforming business operations within its service area. TWDC staff can provide technical assistance in helping you achieve compliance with the City of Cleveland. TWDC can also put you in contact with local Block Club’s to gain their support of your business plans or required variances.  Community outreach and support is an essential element that the Board of Zoning Appeals takes into consideration to grant a zoning variance.

     Definition within the City of Cleveland Zoning Code:

    325.52 Nonconforming Use
    "Nonconforming use" means a use of a building or premises that does not conform to the regulations of the use district in which it is located.
    (0rd. No. 1105-57. Passed 4-14-58, eff. 4-15-58)

    Permit Applications – Zoning – Licensing  

    To establish the use, expand, make alterations, or even change a use you must first go to the City of Cleveland Building and Housing Department and make application to do so. Once the application is processed a zoning review will take place to see if it meets current zoning regulations within the use district the business is located in.

    A) If your business plans were considered a legal use, you would be permitted to attain a building permit and move forward to work with the assigned building inspector in your area.

    B) If your business plans were considered non-conforming, you will receive a letter of non-conformance from the Building and Housing Department. It would be at that point you would have to consider altering your plans to conformity, or making application with the Board of Zoning Appeals to request a variance from existing code.

    C) Once your zoning appeal is granted, you may have to meet certain conditions of use that the Zoning Board request of you for them to grant the variance. Once you comply then you are permitted to pick-up you original application from BOZA, return to the Building and Housing Department to attain the proper building permits and move forward.

    D) Once your assigned inspector signs off on meeting compliance with your original plans, and makes sure you have met the BOZA conditions of use you then return to City Hall to request your final Certificate of Occupancy. (Note: Depending on your specific business you may have to attain separate approvals from the Health Department and the Division of Fire to receive your Certificate of Occupancy)

    E) If you have run into a small construction snag and have finished 95% to 99% of your project and if all other requirements from the Fire Department or Health Department are met. You may ask your inspector if he is willing to sign off on a “30-Day Temporary” Certificate of Occupancy.  This will allow you to operate your business while finalizing your compliance. It is recommended that you do not exceed 90 days before attaining your final Certificate of Occupancy.

    F) After attaining your final Certificate of Occupancy, please contact the City of Cleveland Division of Licenses and Assessments. You may be required by codified ordinances to apply for and attain special bi-annual operational permits. Such as music permits, dancehall licenses, billiards permits, or coin operated device permits.

    G) It is the law for you as a business owner to post all Certificate’s of Occupancy, permits, licenses, and occupant load placards in a conspicuous location in plain sight for City of Cleveland inspectors or safety personal to review on your premises.

    Top reasons why a business would need a Zoning Variance

    1) To establish the current use, due to not having a valid Certificate of Occupancy, or based on the request of the Fire Department to attain a valid C of O to comply with current fire code. (CCO-3105.10)

    2) You are either changing the existing use, expanding the existing use, or altering the existing structure. Note if you are already a legal non-conforming use permitted by a past zoning variance, you are required to get another BOZA variance to expand your use. (CCO-327.02 & CCO-359.01)

    3) You do not have the required number of accessory off-street parking spaces to expand, alter, or change your use. (CCO-349.01 through 349.04)

    4) You would like to provide entertainment at your existing restaurant, bar, or tavern. Currently you would have to meet all the same requirements as a nightclub. Or if you intend to open up a new nightclub.  Your business would have to comply with items 1-3 above, and will also have to get a variance from Specific Uses regulations. (CCO-347.12)

    5) You would like to add an outdoor patio or expanded seating area outside on private property. Your business would have to comply with items 1-3 above, and may have special conditions imposed by the Zoning Board of Appeals. (See item 7 below) This does not apply to Temporary Sidewalk (Café) seating in the public right of way.

    6) You’re intending on opening a business that seeks to acquire a liquor permit or provide entertainment in a Local Retail, or Residential District. You would need special permission from the Board of Zoning appeals if you were within 500ft. of a School, Church, Library, Park, Etc. in a Local Retail District.  If your proposed new liquor establishment/nightclub were located in a Residential District, you would need special permission because the use is not permitted.  (CCO-343.01/b/2/f) (CCO-337.01 through 337.08).

    7) Special note: the Board of Zoning Appeals may require specific conditions of use that you lease additional accessory off-street parking spaces to meet current code.  There is a distance requirement of the leased facility must be within 400ft. from your business. The lease needs to be a five-year renewable contract. The Board of Zoning Appeals can apply other conditions as they deem necessary such as security lighting and personal, or maintain striping and proper landscaping to current zoning code. On-street parking is generally not considered to meet parking compliance.

      Tim (forgive the familiarity), you deem all of this as "creepy?"  You don't see any ethical problems with the transactions going on in Tremont, and actually throughout Cleveland?  This is not a joke, and residents lives do count for something in the game.  Even if you don't seem to understand human compassion and pain, I am at least glad that you are taking note of residents who are tired of the SOS and saying something about it. As for the heroic work of Adam Harvey--he deserves a chance to rest, but if I were him, I would seriously consider the hand that feeds.

    i don't know what is going on.  a blog i read has disappeared and there isn't much of an explanation.  yes, that's creepy.  has nothing to do with "ethical problems with the transactions going on in tremont".  has to do with a blog i read disappearring.

    From Adam Harvey's obituary of "his" Tremonter... "I no longer derive any personal benefit from Tremonter".

    Further, he explains in his comments to his posting there about why he killed Tremonter... "It has always been mine and only mine."

    One comment from a visitor to Adam's blog suggests to Adam: "you should sell it to the neighborhood".

    I'm glad I don't have any content there, as I'm not interested in being sold out by others.

    Those were the problems with Tremonter. If was for Adam Harvey's personal benefit, and was all his. When he got tired or a better offer, he killed it. Those who participated in his "experiment" lose.

    REALNEO has evolved, as always intended, into a not-for-profit co-op of intellectual property... real.coop - we'll shift around the URLs and get to branding this soon, and intend to grow it very large, world-wide... from right here in what is one of the most Information Technology backward places I've ever been in America...

    I believe we are the only "Co-op" open source social network in the world?!?!? If you find others, let me know, as we'd like to see their terms of use (we are updating ours).

    At our last REAL Co-op Steering Committee meetings, at Dewey's, on the East Side of Cleveland, and at Edison's, on the West, we have talked most about the terms of use and ownership of REAL Co-op content, control of which must remain with the creators of the content. That should apply to comments as well.

    I wouldn't put my valuable intellectual property, including comments, anywhere but REALNEO. The world will find them there, forever. I'm done having my intellectual property abused and commercialized by others, and then taken away when that suits them, or I can't afford the toll.

    Now killed by its "creator", Tremonter was a new economy platform (like REALNEO... Drupal) operated in old economy ways. That means Tremonter was a huge waste of electricity, bandwidth and the time and intellectual property of many contributing authors, all stolen or destroyed.

    I suggest people who care about virtual community, social networking, intellectual property, personal freedom, civil rights and the new economy ask themselves, do you know where your intellectual property is today, and who owns and uses it for what? Who may take it all away? What will you have stolen from you?

    intellectual property?  comments are intellecutal property?  and that's why you don't leave comments on someone's blog?  good lord.

    this just makes me more curious as to why the blog went down.  

    um... yes, your words are intellectual property

    So is your medical data. Test Scores. Shopping preferences. Internet activty... all owned and commercialized by others.

    Where may this lead... the one chance the Plain Dealer has of survival is to commercialize the intellectual property of others, not in their employ... they are using the local blog movement and the intellectual property of others to build the value of their content, in the hope to profit.

    Same with the owners of the core blog technologies you use - wordpresss - cum wordpress.com. Who will own them in the future? What will happen to your blog and content? 

    Times Company Joins .5 Million Round for WordPress Owner

    Automattic, the commercial arm of the popular WordPress publishing platform for blogs, has received $29.5 million in financing from four companies, including a small portion from The New York Times Company.

    WordPress is open-source software used by bloggers — including DealBook — to publish posts. Its chief competitors are Blogger (owned by Google) and TypePad (owned by the software company Six Apart).

    Automattic received $1.1 million in financing about two years ago. Polaris Venture Partners, True Ventures and Radar Partners were joined by the Times Company in the second round of financing.

    Toni Schneider, the chief executive of Automattic, said the additional funds would provide the profitable company with a buffer as it invests in other services, including an antispam filter and an online-identity product.

    The companies did not disclose the size of each firm’s investment, although the Times Company’s stake is the smallest.

    The Times Company had previously maintained a business relationship with Automattic. The About.com guide site, which was purchased by the Times Company in 2005, is published using the WordPress platform. The New York Times has also produced more than 50 blogs using the platform.

    Martin A. Nisenholtz, the senior vice president for digital operations of the Times Company, said the company hoped to improve the publishing technology at the foundation of WordPress and harness the platform’s ability to aggregate blog posts.

    “As we’ve adopted blogging and started to treat it as a mainstream publishing platform, there are all sorts of things we might do going forward to improve our approach,” he said.

    Citing a potential application of the technology, Mr. Schneider said blog posts from across the Internet could be featured alongside stories on The Times’s Web site.

     

    Having made the mistake of using the wrong technologies and service providers in the past, I've lost lots of intellectual property. That is why I use a Content Management System, and keep my intellectual property where I have some control over its future.

    and I do have to say thats a bit disingenous coming from you. I'd like not to say politics does strange things to people, because I genuinely like you, but it does have me confused.

    I would also like to point out that the reason I came to start reading and posting on Tremonter, a little over a year ago, was because a friend of mine (we'll call her "Z") was being attacked on the Tremonter. A certain poster (we'll call him "A") even went so far as to say she was a prostitute and posted surveilance video of her on Tremonter, primarily because she shunned his wildly inappropriate advances. She was rightly upset, mentioned this to her girls, and we came to her defense.

    What is relevent here is that these wild attack posts went on for over a month. The were never censored. They were never banned. "A" was subsequently banned, at a later date, but I do not believe it was in relation to this series of incidents.

    So, how is it that now the Tremonter takes on an air of sensitivity? "Z" is just a friendly beautiful young artist. She's not on any Boards. She's not a big shot lawyer or banker. She's not employed at TWDC. And she certainly did nOT receive protection from those incessant posts.

    So why do they shut it down now?

    My guess is that there is information they do not want revealed. My guess is that some of the objects of the recent political posts were very uncomfortable. My guess is posts that did not follow the rah-rah mentality of the Tremonter (Kindergarden) Leaders were unfairly characterized as "negative" and perhaps the slander (or did you term it "libel", Tim?) went the other way.

    It is not negative to reveal information that shows the funding, assets and communal trust given certain members of a neighborhood, members in positions of "leadership", are being misused for personal profit and gain. Perhaps that is incorrect - I would certainly hope so. An open dialogue, in a community forum might disprove that, no?

    I don't have a blog and I think you have me confused with someone else, although that quote from Adam's site was my post. I don't know how that could be disingenuous because you don't actually know me, but if you were wondering, yes, that line refered to you as well.

    I vaguely know the situation that you are talking about and it should be a warning to anyone that "A" is not someone who any interaction should be taken lightly. I personally avoid "A" and encourage anyone new to the neighborhood to do the same as a result of "A's" actions. I do not know "Z", but I can only imagine how difficult that is/was to deal with.

    But that isn't the point, The point is that Tremonter was Adam's site and if you read his blog, which I'm sure you did if you found my quote in the comments, you would understand that while TWDC may have commended him for the site, they had no control over it. You see, there is no "they" and no conspiracy. Adam's personal confilct may have been to either ban more people or shut down site. He chose to shut down the site. Once again, he is not TWDC, he's an individual who started a blog because he loves Tremont.

    In the big picture, I'm on your side. I was trying to be constructive with my criticism. The facts are shaping up to show some real potential mismanagement at TWDC, but you all are presenting falsehoods and insults that might obscure the facts.

    I had the same confusion at first - Tim Russo is another REALNEO member who has been posting about Tremonter RIP, here and on his blog, and you jumped threads with Jerleen to a response to one of his postings... social networks do let you get around.

    Welcome to realneo and these discussions - I'm an outsider to all this Tremont disturbance and don't know A or Z so I really just hope you all work it all out.

    If I may make a suggestions - a request - of all of you NEOTremonters, for good and evil, will you use this website for good and start posting about everything positive happening in Tremont - the birds and flowers (yes, they will come) and the bargains and best eats, what don't feed gentrification, if you feel that is bad.

    Replace Tremonter with a Real.Tremont.Coop of your dreams, using REALNEO. It'll get you in good shape for the future, and prove some important points to the establishment that is causing you so many problems... but in a constructuive rather than destructive way.

    I was responding to Debra's misattribution of something I posted on someone else's blog. Just wanted to clear this up and not confuse things further. She directed something at Tim Russo that should have been directed to me--a different Tim.

    Good luck getting this crew to play nice. They're angry--and for good reason. But they haven't shown an ability to move beyond that. And they just can't seem to take responsibility for Tremonter being shut down, hence the conspiracy inference. Pretty much what you are asking in decorum on this site is what Adam asked of Tremonter posters in regard to positivity and constructive posts. I rarely post--I'm a lurker--but I know that there are heaps of people out there who have had enough of the rants and accusations. Hopefully they don't ruin the great vibe that REALNEO has fostered for years.

    Now back to my lurking before I help ruin that vibe any further.

    I am the activist I am today because of people like Councilman Santiago and Rosemary Vinci. Their iron fist approach in gutter politics made me stand up and say no. Their ties to the former operator and three time convicted Raed Sadik of La Copa Sports bar are well documented. Mr. Sadik sold Heroin to undercover personnel by a school.

    Santiago and Vinci, a felon herself, surrounded themselves with other felons. Pablo Santiago, Ellyse Vega, Emad Silmi, and others top the list.

    I have learned in my several decades on this earth, that one must always argue beyond those who are directly in front of you.

    An example would be --- don't argue to the judge in front of you, design your pursuasion to convince the appellate court , and the Supreme Court !

    So on these blogs, none of us need to push any of the others who are on these blogs.

    I wouldn't put my valuable intellectual property, including comments, anywhere but REALNEO. The world will find them there, forever. I'm done having my intellectual property abused and commercialized by others, and then taken away when that suits them, or I can't afford the toll.

    Now killed by its "creator", Tremonter was a new economy platform (like REALNEO... Drupal) operated in old economy ways. That means Tremonter was a huge waste of electricity, bandwidth and the time and intellectual property of many contributing authors, all stolen or destroyed.

    I suggest people who care about virtual community, social networking, intellectual property, personal freedom, civil rights and the new economy ask themselves, do you know where your intellectual property is today, and who owns and uses it for what? Who may take it all away? What will you have stolen from you?

    I'm sure I've worked in Information Technology and Telecommunications planning and analysis at a higher level and longer than most people in the region - when I was focused entirely on corporate IT, my average client size was $50 billion in revenues per year, and few companies in NEO even qualified for my services. My clients have always been at the Director level or higher, being the people in charge of delivering the world's best IT services to the world's most demanding customers. We know how to get IT right, at the technical level.

    Getting IT right at the social level is an entriely different challenge, upon which I have been focused for over a decade.... my IT knowledge and experience is directed toward the future of open source computing and social networking to benefit society. And society is responding well, as REALNEO is one of the most exciting demonstrations of new economy innovation in the world - certainly unique in every way in this region.

    And our members are amazing. 

    We have created an important virtual community here, now, that did not exist before here, and does not exist anywhere else. You own that community... we are global... we are a dynamic new economy enterprise, owned by the members... we are exactly what the foundations and economic development wonks here should champion, if they are not incompetent and/or corrupt or self-serving.

    I just read Adam's post after hearing the news...  Why would he bother upgrading the site and then close it?  I'm confused.  Did he elaborate to anyone?

    Because, depending on the versions, upgrading Drupal is a complex and sophisiticated task. I spent $1,000s trying to upgrade REALNEO here in NEO, but could not find the right resources... and just couldn't get them to develop right here. Working with Jeff Schuler, we went back to the source of REALNEO - Bryght - which has "developer" experience with Drupal - and they were able to do the heavy lifting... but it broke many aspects of the site, which Jeff and others on REALNEO have had to clean up.

    While still in clean-up mode, now that we are current we can focus on enhancements.

    It has always been my intention for realneo to be an economic engine for the region, by growing the open source information technology sector here. That has happened... there are now many Drupal sites in the region, for example... but the IT sector here is so heavily invested in legacy strategies and commercial interests, like Microsoft and Oracle, that the real money in town is still spent wrong. Look at the expense and opportunity cost of OneCleveland as an example of mainfrme mentalities in an open source world.

    That mainframe mentality is universal among our "leadership" here, and as a result we have not closed the digital divide or developed a strong new economy and are far behind most parts of the world... at an opportunity cost of $10s million in direct mis-spending and $100s million in constricted new economy growth.
