Broad Issues Discussed at Severance

Todays "Community Conversations" meeting at Severance Hall included approximately 24 participants -- most of them associated with local non-profit arts organizations: Intermuseum Conservation Association, Art House, Spaces, Greater Cleveland Partnership and Dobama Theater (to name most). The event was intimate and well organized and quite formal in style -- though that may have been to the location. After a brief introduction explaining of what is Voices and Choices, groups of approximately 6, seated at 4 round tables used workbooks to discuss 5 topics: Employment and Economic Growth, Education & Skills, Equity & Fairness, Quality of Life & Place, Cooperation & Governance. The 20 page glossy color workbook included an explanation and photographs for each of the 5 topic and an area to write about challenges and solutions. An artist and arts activist, perhaps the only one in the group, questioned the  relevance of these broad topics to the issue of arts in Cleveland.
