Arts and Culturebeyond the pale - Donald BarthelmeSubmitted by Susan Miller on Mon, 12/21/2009 - 08:31.
In the wake of last night's little squabble here on realneo, a friend emailed me with a link to the origin of the phrase "beyond the pale". S/he said that though it was the phrase that came to mind while reading through, she had never looked up the origin. I had looked this up, "beyond the pale", because I was a tireless researcher, learner when I was an artistic director, and one of the works we did - a duet, used this text.

The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Victor Liva today at Zion United Church of Christ in Tremont today--was transcendent. The music felt like chocolate for the soul, after subsisting on bread and water for too long.

Absolute Power and the Reign of TerrorSubmitted by lmcshane on Sun, 12/06/2009 - 08:42.
ODOT and the control over ODOT to determine real estate and land use in NEO has been a reign of terror and an abuse of absolute power. Whole neighborhoods and communities have been systematically wiped out. Neighbors are expendable. In the past, it was apparent that the man with absolute power was Albert S. Porter, County Engineer and Democratic Party Chair.*

Resident Advocacy Group - Tremont Clark Avenue Bridge, Longest Span in the Country, Cleveland, Ohio ca. 1917 A couple of concrete supports are still around. There are 2 at the bottom of Clark hill and Quigley. I 've heard that no one is sure who owns them. That seems odd. I think that they should be preserved in any case. Busking in ClevelandSubmitted by lmcshane on Sun, 11/15/2009 - 19:08.
On my way to hear the amazing Loung Ung at Cleveland Public Library, I caught a few minutes of Busker Bradley J. on East Fourth St. He is scraping by in NEO by playing guitar on the streets. So far, he has eluded the authorities, and he admits he hasn't checked the cost of a busker license.
