Since then the Arts Prize commissioned an Arts Prize medal, launched a scholarship program and established the tradition of holding an annual awards event to honor the accomplishments of Artists in Northeast Ohio.

I often leave Cleveland's great classical music radio station WCLV on while I work, and have been enjoying the Cleveland International Piano Compeition live, most of this week.

 From August 12-14, Mayor Frank G. Jackson will host a three-day summit, bringing together a diverse group of people vested in and dedicated to Cleveland to use their vast knowledge and imagination to create an action plan for building a green economy for Cleveland’s future. This summit will be facilitated by Dr. David Cooperrider of the Fowler Center for Sustainable Value (my teacher, advisor, mentor and friend) at Case Western Reserve University, my alma mater (x2).

The Cleveland Chapter of the Dickens Fellowship was founded by Kathy Broz, a librarian at the Cleveland Public Library.  She and her colleagues were instrumental in bringing the 2009 Annual  Conference to Cleveland, Ohio.

New York Times - Merce Cunningham, the visionary American choreographer who helped transform dance in the 20th-century into a major art and a major form of theater, died Sunday night at his home in Manhattan. He was 90. His death was announced by the Cunningham Dance Foundation.

STEP 08 opens July 31

CPT Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan is proud to present Free Family Theatre in the Parks! The teens of the Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) present an original play with drums and dance inspired by Mother Courage and Her Children by Bertolt Brecht. This original work will be presented free of charge at parks throughout the city of Cleveland from July 31 - August 10.

Free and open to the public! Fun for the whole family!

I wish I could put this book in the hands of every American.  

There are tons of free things to do in Cleveland this summer.  I am particularly excited about all of the live music that can be enjoyed outdoors.

Yesterday, I happened to be off (I work Saturdays), so I got to take it easy and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cleveland.  Here are a few images from the Ingenuity Festival, to Tregoning Gallery (featuring the wonderful Matt Dibble), and, finally, to Sokolowski's University Inn.  A great day in the city.
