Uncle Tom or Uncle Sam: Nader says criticism of Obama long overdueSubmitted by Eternity on Fri, 12/18/2009 - 11:20.
The Daily Beast - Democrats are steaming over the White House’s capitulation to liberal nemesis Joe Lieberman’s demands to remove a public option and Medicare buy-in from the Senate’s heath-care bill. Progressive figures including Howard Dean and Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas have gone so far as to suggest scrapping the bill entirely and starting over, sparking rebukes from White House officials like David Axelrod, who called such a move “insane” in a Morning Joe interview on MSNBC on Thursday.

Time to end the Neocon con gameSubmitted by Eternity on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 18:48.
Bruce Cameron @ Consortium News - As Washington’s long debate on the Afghan war unfolded, one group had an unhealthy advantage though – based on its record – it should have had no influence at all. These are the neoconservatives, and they have captured The Washington Post’s editorial pages along with other outlets of elite opinion.

Trumka To Obama's Senate "Health Care Bill Must Change to Be Real Reform"Submitted by Eternity on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 18:30.
Seth Michaels @ AFL-CIO blog - The health care bill being considered by the U.S. Senate is inadequate and too tilted toward the insurance industry, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said today. In recent days, as the Senate has debated health care reform, small numbers of senators have held health care hostage by threatening to block a vote. The new proposal by the Senate puts the interests of insurance companies—and senators who would rather look out for the insurance companies—ahead of real reform.

Absolute Power and the Reign of TerrorSubmitted by lmcshane on Sun, 12/06/2009 - 08:42.
ODOT and the control over ODOT to determine real estate and land use in NEO has been a reign of terror and an abuse of absolute power. Whole neighborhoods and communities have been systematically wiped out. Neighbors are expendable. In the past, it was apparent that the man with absolute power was Albert S. Porter, County Engineer and Democratic Party Chair.*

Support Cycling and Pedestrian Access for the Proposed I-90 Bridge (And Get A Great View Along the Way)Submitted by Kevin Cronin on Sun, 11/29/2009 - 23:23.
Despite public support and an obligation to evaluate cycling and pedestrian access to the proposed Interstate 90/71 Bridge from tremont to downtown, the Ohio Department of Transportation refused to do so.In response, a bunch of cycling and community groups took on the responsibilities ODOT dropped. Come out next Sunday, December 6th, and learn about an exciting vision for a cycling and pedestrian lane on the bridge and why an exciting, beautiful path (along with a place to enjoy the view) to connect the towpath and downtown makes sense for Northeast Ohio
Med Grow Cannabis College opens in MichiganSubmitted by Eternity on Sat, 11/28/2009 - 15:54.
Max Eternity - The state of Michigan has opened the first cannabis college in the United States. It's a decision that could, in the long-term, prove a shrewd move--benefiting the state's economy. Too, in a broader context, with medical marijuana now being legal in a few states, certain questions arise:

The Real NEO Post-Citizen-Hauser Era, Year 2: Learning The Meaning Of "The Process Is Broken!"Submitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 11/16/2009 - 14:15.
Citizen Ed Hauser, Victorious In The Battle Of Whiskey Island - "Ask Not What Your Planet Can Do For You..." It has been a year since Northeast Ohio lost our selfless civic activist "Citizen" Ed Hauser, silencing the great voice in the community saying that "The Process is Broken". November 14, 2009 - the one-year anniversary of Ed's death - a group of family and friends came together on the beautiful Whiskey Island Ed saved, before a late Autumn setting sun, to toast a glorious man, and mourn a most cursed and horrible year in Northeast Ohio without Ed. What does the dawn hold for this long-suffering region, in the second year without Citizen Hauser?

The link between obesity and the commiserable US minimum wageSubmitted by Eternity on Thu, 11/12/2009 - 12:48.
Max Eternity - Measured in 2008 dollars, in 1968 the minimum wage was $9.15, and it is for this reason two economist--David O. Meltzer and Zhuo Chen--have authored a paper entitled "The Impact of Minimum Wage Rates on Body Weight in the United States" making the case that at least 10% of the overall obesity increase in America comes as a direct result of last wages over the past 30 years. The summary for the paper states:
Song of the Day: "Wish You Were Here" - Pink FloydSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Wed, 11/11/2009 - 23:09.
In two days, November 14, it will be a year since Ed Hauser died unnecessarily, for lack of adequate public healthcare in America. A year ago today, Ed's death could have been prevented, if he had access to better preventative healthcare, along the way... doctors visits, testing, and warning about a broken heart.
