Make no little plans ...
Issues like creating/retaining jobs and creating new facilies for medical marts, gambling and sports may seem most important to a lot of Northeast Ohians but this is really a myopic approach to our economy. Protecting our health and natural resources should always come first -- without both we never be able to thrive here in any way. More people need to think ahead to the Cleveland one hundred or two hundred years from now and what we are creating for the next generations. Architect Daniel H. Burnham, who made some of the most important and lasting contributions to our city a little over 100 years ago said it best:
“Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood and probably will themselves not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will not die.”
The leaders would have to care
Care about the people that actually live in Cleveland, and raise their families here, for them to care about the impact their decisions have on the city. Stop giving business owners that do not live here so much power to decide what happens here. Everything is topsy turvy.
