Just a photo to lighten the mood--wouldn't it be great, if NEO became the first city in the world to reduce energy costs by actually observing interfaith sabbath on Friday, Saturday and Sunday?  No cars, just bikes and pedestrians :)

We can have better health care--if we try

Submitted by Lee Batdorff on Fri, 07/24/2009 - 06:41.

Providing health care for all is a complicated situation. An area that needs much more discussion and advocacy is how well people take care of themselves. An old housemate of mine, Jeremiah Sable, is a primary care physician in another state. He entered the field enthusiastic to bring good health care to poor people. And he grew skeptical over time. He told me, "Even though they are told by their doctor how to become healthier many people do not change their ways and grow unhealthier."

Let us not allow your legislative ideas/concerns to be in the settling dust bowl for the next 4 years then. Take notice everyone...looks like the water department has a severe problem on the corner of Denison & West 40th.... The worker said that they anticipate shutting off service in the immediate future to several streets to conduct emergency repairs that may take over 24 hours. The direct problem is unknown, but it is amidst underground power lines...
