Inputs and outcomes from the January 24, 2006 Excellence Roundtable at the City Club featuring East Cleveland Mayor Eric Brewer.
East Cleveland Mayor shares bold vision and energy, at the RoundtableSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 01/24/2006 - 16:44.
At the 01.24.06 Excellence Roundtable at the City Club, a standing room only group of diverse area citizens came together to discuss the future of East Cleveland with newly elected Mayor Eric Brewer. If Mayor Brewer can deliver on his promise, potential and the opportunities offered in redevelopment of this unique community, he will be a hero in this region and in many respects in the country. I believe everyone left this roundtable expecting this will occur.

Two years ago our gas clothes drier lost the bearings in several of its plastic drum support rollers - we needed another drier! We could go out to the malls or in to Cleveland.

A ClevelandBikes’ bike station for Northeast Ohio?Submitted by Kevin Cronin on Mon, 01/16/2006 - 11:15.
People on REALNEO’s website are used to thinking about new ideas and the way we can help create the city and region we want to live in. Rather than passive acceptance, readers at REALNEO are active shapers of the community. Our area is increasingly considering the importance of health activities, lifestyle and the comfort and attractiveness of the region. As a region, we are focusing on regional assets, including our parks and lake. With that in mind, I want to discuss ClevelandBikes, a two year-old nonprofit, and our project to develop an asset to meet these goals…a bike station, a new piece of the transportation infrastructure.

Convince Private Sector to Support Public Education OverhaulSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 01/06/2006 - 01:29.
From Philanthropy News Digest is an article on NY Mayor Bloomberg convincing the private sector - corporations, foundations and philanthropists - to support public education overhaul in NYNY, raising from this over $300 million "without strings attached", which is "crucial to their ability to experiment and support research and development efforts within the system". A thought to share as we select and brief our new Cleveland Public Schools CEO. Feel free to share your thoughts...

Blue Dog rises to raise money for Red CrossSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 12/22/2005 - 15:25.
Anyone who has spent much time in Louisiana knows the Blue Dog of artist George Rodrigue. A friend of mine sent me a link to a website for a signed poster by Rodrigue raising money for the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. It's a classic image and worthy cause so I thought I'd pass it along. You can learn more and order the poster here. ( categories: )

Minutes for Net Impact Meeting - AJ Rocco's Nov 29 7-9 PM Attendees (10) Akash Abraham Katya Chistik Sustainability at the center of Cleveland - A.J. Rocco's starts compostingSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 12/02/2005 - 09:21.
Sustainability becomes part of everyone's everyday life in Cleveland as we all connect together and leverage the strengths of all. There was a perfect demonstration of that this week at REALNEO's home away from the office - A.J. Rocco's Espresso Bar and Restaurant - as a result of REALNEO member Sudhir Raghupathy bringing together a group of socially conscious young people he calls NEO Net Impact, on Tuesday, November 29, at A.J. Rocco's. Just two days later, A.J. Rocco's became the first downtown restaurant participating in a program to add their organic waste to a composting initiative in Ohio City.
